Steven Vecchio Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 14, 2025.
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Steven Donald Vecchio, unwavering and adoring husband & father, beloved son, cherished brother, and treasured uncle, who left us far too soon on April 28, 2025. Born on September 16th, 1975 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Steven lived his life with purpose and heart. To his parents, Steven was a loving son whose loyalty and warmth never wavered. To his brothers, a confidant and friend. He was a proud and faithful husband to his wife, Emily, and tender-hearted father to his four children. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the baseball field with his boys, quiet weekend getaways with Emily, and recently celebrating the graduation and college acceptance of his remarkable daughters. Music was his refuge and his joy-a source of deep connection he wholeheartedly shared with those he loved, especially his brothers. His legacy is one of compassion, mutual respect, humor, and deep devotion to those he held close to his heart. Though he is no longer with us in body, Steven's spirit continues to echo in every note of a favorite song, in the smiles and successes of his children, and in the quiet strength and grace of his wife as she bravely steps into this new chapter, carrying their children and his memory forward with love.

He is preceded in death by his cherished father, Donald Vecchio, and several dearly loved grandparents. He is survived by his resilient and beautiful wife, Emily; his tender-hearted sons, Oskar and Parker ("Pickles"); his bright and graceful daughters, Eva and Kaitlyn; his nurturing mother, Suzanne; his steadfast and devoted brothers, Mark and Jason; and his spirited niece and nephews.

He is deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Please feel free to share your memories or condolences-your kind words mean more to his family than you can know.

Philippians 3:20-21

"But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior... who will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body."

Brother how do I type this to you? We spent all those years together growing up when things were sometimes pretty tough and we survived together. I now have no one that truly understands that part of me that only you do. I miss you beyond comprehension but get some relief knowing you are now at peace. I know we weren´t as close these last years but so incredibly grateful for our talks we had the last couple months. It was like we were back in our school days again. From listening to music to skating to so many other things we shared I will never forget.
I wanted to post a picture of the cabin at Maysfield where we had some of our best memories just hanging out listening to music, playing games, and running around the woods into all hours of the night. We´d sit up all night at the edge of "The Gully" looking at the sky and stars and just talk about life. I´d give anything to have those days back again. In fact I´d give anything for me just to take your place. We will all make sure the boys know how much you loved them and how they were your world.
I could keep typing here for pages and pages but just know I will always love you and understand. Again I miss you so much and look forward to the day I see you again brother. Love you until star dust

Steve was a great friend. He loved the outdoors. I was fortunate to spend time with him camping and fishing. I have so many memories I´ll cherish for ever. We lost touch over the years but I always thought about him and considered him one of my closest friends. I´ll miss him. My deepest sympathies to the Vecchio family.

I'll always remember my uncle Steve as the kind-hearted person he was. Everything time I saw him although not often, he was joyful and an amazing person to be around.

I was blessed to teach with Stevie´s mom, Sue, in Houston, become a family friend, AND teach Stevie for several years at Lord of Life. His smile is indelibly etched in my memory, his love of fun and laughter made teaching him a joy, and even being a bit of a mischievous imp now and then made him fun to be around. His heart was kind and caring which showed in how he treated others. Walk in joy and peace with the Lord, Stevie (as I will always know him).

I count myself lucky to have had Steve as a friend. Together with our group of friends, we had a lot of great moments in high school and throughout college. (And enjoyed harassing Jason along the way). Steve enjoyed camping and the river trips our group would take. I know he continued enjoying the outdoors with his children. I will always remember Steve as a thoughtful person, generous, funny, and kind. He was also good with his hands and mechanically inclined. It was Steve that taught me how to do a brake job on my car way back when we were 17. That´s the kind of friend Steve was...always willing to help a friend and pass along his knowledge. My family and I are keeping all the Vecchio´s in our prayers.

When I fell in love with Jason-Steve´s youngest brother (or "boy," as I later learned Steve and Mark liked to call him)-I was so nervous to meet the family and make a good impression. Thankfully, Steve made that easy. From the moment we met, he had this way of instantly making you feel like an old friend. Within days, we were already laughing like we´d known each other for years. Steve was my only fellow coffee drinker in the family and I was able to quit packing my own Starbucks singles for visits, thanks to his Keurig & all the necessary supplies. I´ll remember how nice those cups of coffee were together, at random times of the day and night, in Sue´s Kerrville kitchen. Over time, we discovered some similarities in our stories, and there was a quiet comfort in sharing those. It wasn´t always deep or serious, but it always came from a place of mutual respect and understanding. One of my favorite memories will always be the time we joked about him being the middle brother, and he said, "Couldn´t let Mark have all this fun by himself." That quick wit and dry humor will be missed. Eventually, he started calling me "sissy." At first, I thought it was funny-me, the only child suddenly a sister-but over time, I came to appreciate the warmth, the acceptance, and the love behind that nickname.

Steve, I pray you´re now at peace-healthy, whole, and free. I´ll carry those good memories with me, and I´ll be sure to pass them on to your sweet boys and beautiful girls.

I'm Jed Klein, and I've known the Tabbert/Vecchio clan for 64 years, when Steven's parents, Don and Sue and I were teenagers. A few years later I was at Don and Sue's wedding and I stayed informed about the growing up of those 3 wonderful sons of theirs into fine men. Sue has kept me well-informed about the progress of the family all these years. Steven was a great guy...........period. He embodied the finest qualities of his parents and what he learned throughout life. I was more than shocked by his passing in the prime of his life. I am certain that this world was a better place during the time our Lord in Heaven granted him with the gift of life. He leaves a great legacy through his loving wife and four children.

Ill always remember him when I was just a lil kid, him and my brother Todd, and Josh Newman all hanging out at our house. We all walked up to clearbrook track and was hanging out, running around. Lol He was sooo nice and really a cool guy. I was intrigued by him. As my brother said he knew the coolest music and introduced a lot of what are some of the best music ever, and had a cool sense of style. A very good friend, a nice guy to be around.
Just a couple years ago we became friends on fb and was happy to see how he grew into a man with a beautiful family. I was so happy to see that.
He will definitely be missed by many!!
God speed, Steven.
Rest easy in the arms of the Lord.
My heart and prayers goes out for his family and friends who are grieving his absence.
I'm just so sad and hurt over you being gone.
