Dear Pamela,
Your dad and Ken Taylor were the first Trade Commissioners that I met when they called me for lunch in Detroit. They wanted me to join TCS instead of External Affairs. After the lunch, they played dollar poker with $100 bill to see who would pay for the lunch. From that time onward, Stew and I had many great meetings, including on the golf course. He was a key mentor, and a fine gentleman.
Trisha and I send our sincere condolences.

Dear Pamela
Jayne and I are so sorry to read about your father's passing. Our closest memories of your parents, you and your sister date from two years together in Mexico from 1963 until 1965 when we worked and played [golf!] together and your parents introduced us to so many aspects of the foreign service. Both Tance and Stewart enjoyed fulsome lives and you remain a major player in our memories of the Hay family.
Fondly;
Ted Gibson

Stewart was a force of nature when I had the pleasure of working with him in the Trade Commissioner Service those many years ago. Very sorry to learn the sad news of his passing. He will long be remembered by the friends he made serving Canada with distinction at home and abroad. Beverley joins me in extending deepest sympathy to his family.
