My most heartfelt condolences to Lupe, Evita and the Mazor family. I worked with Stu at Intel for more than a decade and knew him as a gentle, kind and generous person. Through the years he was an admirable leader, friend and mentor. Gone too soon. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Best wishes, Urvi

Stu was a gentle and kind soul with a huge heart. I am eternally grateful for the friendship we shared during the late 80's and early 90's. Our lives took us in different directions, but I cherish the memories and friendship we shared. Stu, you were taken too soon, which saddens me. I always thought we would meet again and reminisce about the early days at Intel. I know you leave a huge hole in the hearts of your beloved family, Lupe and Evita. May God comfort and keep them in this time of loss and grief.

Stuart was my friend and brother in law for over 18 yrs. We both married into a large family from Lima Peru (11 girls, 2 boys) we attended many family birthday parties, events, celebrations and holidays together. He was a founding member of the group "Los tres gringos", an honor society in the family for white guys like us. He was a lot of fun. We were both big Pink Floyd fans and attended many rock concerts together.

Sharing the speech I gave at the memorial service today:

Hello everyone,
Thank you for being here to honor our dear friend and colleague, Stu.

I first met Stu over 25 years ago, on my very first day on the job. I was straight out of college, a recent immigrant, and new to CA; and knowing no one here. Stu was one of the first to welcome me - at work and outside. Btw, it was Stu who introduced me to this congregation back then.
We worked directly only for 2yrs, and in that short time, we became friends-a friendship that lasted all these years, often fueled by our exchanges of humor.

Stu´s kindness and generosity were evident from the start. When I found myself needing a temporary place to stay, he offered me a room in his house. When I offered to pay him rent, he refused, I suppose understanding my situation as a recent college graduate. That gesture was so thoughtful and helpful at a time when I needed it most, and I´ve never forgotten it.

Living in his home, gave me a chance to get to know Stu on a deeper level. One of the things I remember most vividly was his relationship with his old German Shepherd, named Sasha. She was already elderly at the time, often struggling to walk and occasionally relieving herself in the living room. But Stu took care of her with unconditional love and unlimited patience. He played with Sasha in his own way, even when she wasn´t mobile, showing a level of care and compassion that left a deep impression on me. That was Stu-someone who gave his love freely and fully, even when it wasn´t easy.

And then there was his laughter. Stu had a way of finding humor in almost anything, and his laugh-unmistakable, joyful, and sometimes wonderfully silly-was contagious and liberating. There´s a Yiddish proverb that says, "What soap is to the body, laughter is to the soul." Stu lived that every day, reminding us all to take life a little less seriously and to find joy even in challenging moments.

Stu´s life was rich in meaning because of the way he touched the lives of those around him. In Jewish tradition, we say, "May their memory be for a blessing." Stu´s memory truly is a blessing-a reminder of how to live a life of generosity, humor, and love. As we remember him today, let us carry forward his kindness, his laughter, and the lessons he taught us, ensuring his spirit continues to inspire us.

Thank you.

On 4th of July Stu became our first friend in the new neighborhood! He was walking around greeting everyone and came over to greet us, with his big warm smile , and we all immediately bonded when he found out I was Peruvian! His eyes lit up and said "my wife is Peruvian too! Come over to the house" , and the rest is history. This is how we became close friends to Stu and his lovely family. You will forever be missed.

I met Stu at work in the late 1990s. I was supporting his group. Stu was very technically and was willing to help others by sharing his knowledge. I felt right at home.

Stu was a technical leader and someone to emulate. Stu was my role model as Stu came from the technical to the engineering ranks thus the path I also traversed.

Stu had a super power at work. Stu could defuse any tense discussion or disagreement with sarcasm, jokes, laughter and/or his deep calmed voice. Again, a super power ... :)

Stu was my gym buddy. We used to workout at the 24Hour Fitness in Folsom at 6AM before coming to work. This continued until family and work time became issues but we enjoy the time while it lasted.

Stu and I worked for different groups and only saw each other in corridors. When we saw each other, Stu smiled and he always greeted me by saying "Tapiaaaaaaaaaa!" and I always responded "Stuuuuuuuuuu!". This was our method of greeting each other .... no one else understood this greeting. Other than him, this is one of the thing I will miss the most ... :(

Stu and my immediate family came to visit my rest of my family in Chile. Stu met my family and spent celebrating the 1999/2000 New Years with them. From boat rides, soccer matches, eating/drinking, etc. Stu did everything and even in 2023, when I visited Chile, my family ask what happened to that gringo ... :)

After I retired in 2016, Stu and I lost contact as I was busy in my retirement activities and Stu was busy at work so we only kept track of each other through Facebook. But Stu attended my wife's funeral in 2021. I was surprise but happy to see him. Stu comforted me at my lowest moment.

Stu was a brilliant engineer and I enjoyed working with him at Intel. Most of all he was one of the kindest people to work with and I always enjoyed reaching out to him to collaborate on projects. He was so easy to speak with and had a fantastic sense of humor. My heart goes out to his beautiful family. Know you are in my hearts and prayers. What a blessing to have known such a kind person as, Stu.

I've known Stu as a caring friend, devoted father, and loving husband. We've shared many moments together, watching games live from baseball and basketball courts and enjoying the Blue Man theater show. His simple and enjoyable approach to life is inspiring. His smile and humbleness make anyone feel at ease with him. My family and I send our deep condolences to Lupe, Evita, and Stu's family.

Lupe - what a beautiful summary of Stu´s life, passions and accomplishments. Building a family with you and Evita was the best thing that ever happened to Stu and it brought more happiness to Stu than you can even imagine. Thank you for making his life complete.

Stu became a truly great friend and work colleague to me at Intel. He had a knack for making everyone feel comfortable and brought many laughs and giggles with his sense of humor and way of putting things into perspective. I will always cherish the daily lunch bunch outings that Stu, Mark Lalich and myself started. Stu was definitely one of the truly great guys I have ever met and he could always be counted on both professionally and as a friend. He loved Intel and was proud to be part of the Intel family. I was so happy when he met Lupe as she brought even more happiness and new fun experiences into Stu´s life outside of Intel. Stu loved being married and eventually became a father to his beautiful daughter, Evita who he was so rightfully proud of! Stu will be missed but never forgotten. My goes out to Lupe and Evita as well as Stu´s brother, Brian as their family is forever changed. May they find the strength and ability to continue celebrating Stu by experiencing much happiness and laughter going forward as he would want this for them.

:) Patty

I only met Stuart and played golf with him once. He was my brother, Phil´s, coworker at Intel. This was about 20+ years ago, but I still remember him being very helpful and giving me golf tips. He was a good guy and I´m glad to have spent that time with him. Please accept my condolences to Stuart´s family.
