Subhash Amin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 11 to Aug. 12, 2020.
died on August 8, 2020, peacefully in sleep at his residence in Vadodara, India. Subhash was born on December 23, 1940 to Manu and Jaya Amin. He immigrated to the United States to pursue an MS in Civil Engineering, on full scholarship, at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). Subhash was a talented engineer with a specialty in designing earthquake proof buildings. He was on the Michael Baker engineering team that designed the Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA, and while employed with MK Ferguson Group in Cleveland, OH he was lauded by the Anheuser-Busch (AB) corporation and many other Fortune 500 clients for integrity of his designs, e.g., the AB brewery in Fairfield, CA was unscathed during the San Francisco earthquake of 1989 thanks in part to Subhash's design efforts. He was instrumental in facilitating establishment of the NE Ohio Indian Community (including the Federation of India Community Association (FICA), the India Community Center (ICC) and the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan temple in Brunswick, OH). Subhash bettered the lives of thousands of people (directly and indirectly) through providing substantial relocation help & guidance to new Indian immigrants, job-placement assistance and always providing a helping hand any time called upon. He was a gregarious man who enjoyed and loved life to the fullest, and especially being with family & friends over good food & drink. He is survived by his wife Kokila Amin, three children: Himanshu Amin (Leslie), Nilesh Amin (Shivana) and Rita Sehgal (Sanjay), and five grandchildren: Alexander, Meera, Hannah, Dylan and Julia. Due to Covid-19 related restrictions, funeral/cremation services were expedited and conducted in India on August 9, 2020. If Subhash could pass on any last bits of wisdom it would be "Spend as much time with your family & friends as possible, do what you want now versus later, and healthy time on this planet is your most valuable asset

A year has passed since Shubhashbhai left this world for Akshardham. He lives in our heart and his memories will stay with us for ever. His vibrant personality, willingness to help others, his devotion to Shri Swaminarayan Bhagwan and his jolly nature including love for food will be remembered forever.
He came over and stayed with us during my son Anik's wedding. He came in contact with our Fort Worth, TX community. His people skills and abilities to engage in conversations made him a remembrance for many of our friends.
His extended family saw him as THE fatherly figure and he lived upto their expectations and more. His charmfull and jolly nature brought happiness to all.

He will always remain in our hearts

Subhashbhai was a true humble gentlemen and did a lot for his family. He encouraged his children and gave them the highest education they wanted to pursue. While doing all this, he actively helped people in his community when they had problems. Later he became very active in temple activities. I did not believe that such a man of knowledge was also dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan, but when Pramukh Swami came to Cleveland, I realized how he had transformed. He introduced me to Pramukh Swami and then both of them talked as if they were best friends.
When we first came to Cleveland, almost every other Friday night we would get together, eat Bhajias at his house, ask for his advice. He really cared a lot about his family. He had a special place for Rita in his heart, which was evident during her wedding.
Putting everything aside, he was very well respected by his colleagues at work, and the community, his extended family also saw him as a fatherly figure and respected him and on occasions asked for his advice.
It would be unfair not to mention his wife Kokilaben, who I believe is equally responsible for his success.
The entire Fort Worth community still remembers him when he spent 7 days in Fort Worth during Anik’s wedding because of his charming, LIVELY and engaging personality
Will truly miss him, and will remember him forever

I knew him very well for a long time as a personal friend and compatriot in FICA. He lived an enviable life of helping others, charity and devotion to his temple and beliefs.
The Indian community has lost a great benefactor.
I pray for eternal peace of the departed soul and wish strength to the family to bear his loss.

Subash Uncle was a friend of my father way back in 1970s before my father passed away in 1978. To this day, Subash Uncle and his family made me a part of their family. Subash was always kind, intelligent, and funny. He provided a lot of comfort and guidance to me throughout the years, always letting me know that I was not alone without a father. I will miss him dearly and will cherish the times we had together.
