Professor Subir Kumar Bose

Subir Kumar Bose, age 75, of Orlando, FL, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Cornerstone Hospice, Winter Park Towers. He was born on January 1, 1939 in Calcutta, India to his parents, Manindra Bose and Sadhana Bose. Subir was the second of 5 children. He married Shubha Ray Bose in New Delhi, India on May 11, 1965. They had 2 children. He attended Allahabad University and graduated in 1966 with a Doctorate in Physics. He earned numerous awards, including an Emeritus Professorship at the University of Central Florida. He was a long-time resident of Orlando, FL for 26 years. He was employed by the University of Central Florida as a Professor of Physics for 19 years. Prior to his tenure at UCF, he taught as a Professor of Physics for over 15 years at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He enjoyed classical music, reading, playing tennis, and watching the Orlando Magic. Subir will be remembered by his loving wife and their children: son Sudip Bose (and his wife, Melanie Bose) of Silver Spring, MD, and daughter Pia Bose (and her husband, Antonio Pastor Otero) of Geneva, Switzerland. He is also survived by his brother, Samir Bose, of South Bend, IN, and grandson, Julian Bose, of Silver Spring, MD.
