Sue Bratton Curtis

Sue Bratton Curtis, 78, of Bristol, Virginia, died on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia.

She was born on March 8, 1932, a daughter of the late Stuart Bratton and Bessie Collier Bratton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Goose" Curtis; sisters, Estelle Ackerman and Pat McIntyre; and a brother, James Bratton.

She was a teacher at Highland View Elementary School for over 30 years, enjoyed all types of music, reading, traveling, being outdoors and being with her family. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Tammy Lyons and her husband, Chuck, of Palmyra, Virginia; a sister, Grace Bratton Couch of Thomasville, North Carolina; brothers, Harry Bratton of Blountville, Tennessee, and Paul Bratton of Castlewood, Virginia; grandchildren, Trey Lyons, Jay Lyons and Kate Lyons; a special great- nephew, Spencer Bratton; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2011, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 320 Carter Street, Bristol, Virginia.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jim Pollock officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Spencer Bratton, Jimmy Bratton, Trace Bratton, David Bratton, Joey Bratton, Jeff McIntyre and Scott McIntyre.

Tammy,
