Sue Stefanelli Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 15, 2025.
Sue Stefanelli (née Snow), 62, passed away on March 9, 2025, in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Born on October 23, 1962, in Gary, Indiana, Sue lived a life filled with compassion and dedication. She shared 40 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Frank Stefanelli.

Sue had an extraordinary passion for animals and dedicated much of her time to their care and rehabilitation. She worked at Shy Wolf Sanctuary, where she earned the affectionate title of "coyote whisperer." Her deep connection with animals was evident in the special bond she formed with wolves. Sue also extended her compassion to animals in crisis by participating in rescue missions during natural disasters.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Stefanelli; her mother, Ruth Langan; her stepfather, Donald Langan; her sister, Linda Melgar (Carlos); her stepbrother, Tim Langan; her stepson, Vince Stefanelli; her stepdaughter, Nicole Bradley (Rob); her nephew and niece, Josh and Daniela Melgar; and her granddaughter, Sylvia Bradley. She is also remembered fondly by her aunt Mary Lou Pogosoff and cousin Sharon Mayer.

Sue was preceded in death by her father, Richard Snow; her grandmother, Mary Volk; and her uncle, Arthur Pogosoff.

Her unwavering dedication to animal welfare and the kindness she showed to all living beings will be deeply missed. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.

I miss you more than anyone knows
As time goes by, the emptiness grows
I laugh, I talk, I play my part
But behind my smile is a broken heart.

Sue, you were such a comfort at Shy Wolf. You were always so friendly and encouraging. I still fondly remember you and Lois decked out in your Gillian gear, singing the theme song through the mic at the first big fundraiser.

You also helped me through some dark times that we both shared. Although it´s been a while, you left a lasting impact on me. God will embrace you and we will meet again.

Sue "hired" and trained me at Shy Wolf Sanctuary. Her sense of humor and her ability to explain how to be with the animals and to learn from them are lessons that I will never forget. Her dedication to the sanctuary and, more, the animals who inhabited it were a true joy to experience. Rest easy, Sue. You are missed.

I was blessed to have Sue as a mentor at Shy Wolf Sanctuary. Sue was loved by all the animals and showed me how to be still and be with them. I loved her connection with the coyotes. Sue was a bright light in this world and I will miss her so much. I know she is surrounded by all the animals she helped.
