Sugeng Sulaiman Saman

Sugeng Sulaiman Saman, 70, passed away on January 10th, 2025, at his home in Bali, Indonesia.

He was the youngest son of the late H. Abdullah and Sri Andrini Antariska Saman, of Jakarta, Indonesia. He is survived by his wife, Sri Rejeki Koesoemowati; three sons, Shea Saman and his wife Emily, Sean Saman, and Austin Saman; two granddaughters, Robyn and Nina; two stepsons, Fiqi Husein and Nagra Kautsar Pakusadewo; three sisters, Marietta Widjonarko, Indra Harbani, and Retna Susanto; his brother, Rachmat Boyke Saman; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Raman Ramayana Saman, and his first wife, Robin (Watts) Saman.

In his teens, Sugeng moved from Indonesia to the United States, first living in Forest Hills, New York. As a young adult, he traveled with his band for several years before settling in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He spent most of his career working in hospitality for Marriott, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, and Masonic Village, before retiring in 2018. During his lifetime, Sugeng built lasting relationships with everyone he worked and interacted with, and considered all of his friends a part of his extended family.

Sugeng loved and was loved by his entire family. He was a caring and supportive father, uncle, and brother, proud grandfather, and a devoted husband. He was a remarkably talented musician, enjoyed fishing and cooking, and was a dedicated Phillies and Eagles fan. He was brilliantly creative, and believed he could build and fix anything; he succeeded some of the time, which earned him the nickname "MacGuyver". He loved to laugh, and will be remembered happily by his family, friends, and former coworkers as a joyous and ruthless practical joker.

Sugeng was laid to rest in Jakarta. Memorial contributions can be made in Sugeng's honor to the Masonic Village Compassionate Care Fund. A memorial gathering will be hosted by Sugeng's family on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, from 2-6pm at Buhrig Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. All are welcome to join and to celebrate Sugeng's life and memory.
