Susan Craig Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 10, 2024.
Susan Ellen "Susie" Craig, aged 64, passed away on May 17, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born on May 27, 1959, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Susie spent her early years in the area, attending Dorseyville Primary School and Fox Chapel High School.

Susie was a beloved figure in her community, known for her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to the arts. She owned and operated the Flower Loft, a cherished flower shop in Lawrenceville, which became a staple for floral enthusiasts. In addition to her business, Susie dedicated many years to The Cultural Trust, enhancing the cultural landscape of Pittsburgh by ensuring the community had access to high-quality performances and events.

Her battle with multiple sclerosis (MS) led her to move to Salt Lake City in 2006, where she continued to thrive despite her health challenges. Susie's resilience and positive outlook were truly inspirational.

An avid reader and traveler, Susie had a profound connection to her Welsh roots, which she explored through multiple visits to Wales and England. Her passion for her heritage was also expressed through her significant contribution, alongside her mother Doris, in designing and funding the Welsh room at The Cathedral of Learning.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, William Alexander and Doris Caroline Craig. She is survived by her siblings William, Kenneth, and David (Kelly), her godson Nathan, and her nieces and nephews Nathan, Heidi, Katie, Ellie, Ryan, Peter, along with her great-nieces and nephews Ella, Owen, Liam, Piper, Sophia, Cora, Kenny, and Otto.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) in memory of Susie, to support others battling this disease.

Susie's legacy of kindness, creativity, and community involvement will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her life's work and passions will continue to inspire those she has left behind.
