Salt Lake City, UT-Susan "Suzie" Dee Diston unexpectedly passed away on April 19th in her hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah at 68 years young.

She was born to David Bingham and Ann Bailey Dee in 1955. She spent her childhood running around outside with her older sister Alice and younger brother David.

After she graduated from East High School, her love of music and talent playing the oboe and flute led her to study at Utah State University. After a year, she decided to transfer to Westminster University and received her degree in business economics. Suzie became an X-Ray technician to help her pay for college, and this is when her love for medicine bloomed.

Suzie chose to further her career by attending the University of Utah to become an ultrasound technician. Ultrasound was her passion and she worked in many hospitals all around Salt Lake.

During her time as an X-Ray technician, she met her first husband Steven Vandervoort. The two were married in 1986 however, Steve tragically passed away in 1987.

In 1990 John Diston came along and swept her off her feet. The two were happily married in 1991 and welcomed their first daughter, Brooke, in 1992. Their second daughter, Annalee, arrived in 1994. That same year, John was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in 1996.

Suzie was a strong and loving mother to her two daughters. The three of them would do puzzles, play in the garden, and enjoy vacations in Maui. Suzie loved to read and was an active member in her book club. She prioritized being active by walking everyday, skiing, and golfing with friends. She nourished her creative side by painting with water colors and knitting beautiful creations.

Over the last few years, Suzie developed a beautiful relationship with Charlie Beals. They loved traveling, golfing, and trying new restaurants. The two of them split their time between Utah and Arizona so they were able to golf year round.

Suzie was a charismatic woman who brightened everyone's day. She was a loving mother and a compassionate friend. For this, she will be missed by so many. We will be celebrating her adventurous life on July 13th, see social media for details.

In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to the SUPeRAD Clinic, a specialty perinatal clinic that integrates maternal fetal medicine, addiction specialists, and resource management for women struggling or who have struggled with substance abuse. Suzie was very passionate about her work there and adored her coworkers. In the special instructions, please specify for the SUPeRAD clinic in honor of Suzie Diston. http://bit.ly/SupeRad

I was looking at an old facebook post and saw Susan´s comment. I then went to look at her facebook page and here I am. I loved working with her in Tooele,Utah. Her love for ultrasound was obvious. I enjoyed her sharing her life stories with me and just genuinely being a kind and caring person. I´m thankful for our paths crossing.

My sister and I had only begun our relationship with Suzie through our brother, Charlie, but we were looking forward to making more memories together. We send our sincere sympathies to Suzie's family for their loss.

We are so sad to hear about Suzie. We have known her since the early x-ray days. She worked for Bob for a time and I worked with her in ultrasound at various hospitals. We shared many laughs and many tears. Suzie attended our "knit club" throughout the years where she was a creative knitter. she was the consummate hostess and gifted artist.
Condolences to her family and close friends.

I remember the first time we saw the house with all the skis in the yard and Susie´s paintings on the walls. She was such an active and creative person. So glad we got to know her. With love and deep wishes to Annalee and Brooke for peace and comfort. Love, Joe and Homer

A pillar of strength, a woman of courage and a generous lady to the core. Suzie knew how to enjoy life in the face of adversity. Memories with Suzie will always be greatly cherished.
