Susan Epley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 1, 2012.
COLLEYVILLE -- Susan Snyder Epley of Colleyville, Texas died peacefully at home on May 27, 2012 at the age of 68 years following an extended illness. Susie was born November 18, 1943 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Kenneth Arleigh Snyder and Kathryn Newman Snyder of Duncannon, Pennsylvania.
Survivors include her husband Bob, two daughters Jennie Bullard of Fort Worth, Texas and Kendi Epley of New York, NY, a granddaughter Kathryn M. Bullard (better known to all as Katie), a brother Ken Snyder and his wife Wendy both of Wayland, Massachusetts, a nephew Casey Snyder of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, a niece Lena Snyder of Boston, Massachusetts and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Susie's life centered around her family and close friends, and she gave her unwavering love to all of those she knew and cared for. She was not only the rock for her family but also touched many folks throughout her life. Her children will most remember her for dedicating herself to their upbringing through school involvement, friend and community involvement and the personal touches she put into every day with her family - she had a way of making the ordinary, extraordinary.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, she was a nurse for many years, both before her children were born and after they were gone from the nest. She studied and received her Bachelor's degree with a major in nursing at the University of Pittsburgh, started her career at the Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania then moved to Philadelphia and worked as a nursing instructor at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. It was during those years that she and Bob found each other, were married and began raising a family. A little more than 20 years later, she did some refresher training and jumped right back into her nursing career at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School orthopedic clinic in Dallas.
Susie has chosen to be cremated and have her ashes spread over her parents' gravesite on a beautiful hill overlooking the Juniata River near where she grew up. Her family will open the doors to her home at 6417 Lorraine Park in Colleyville on Saturday, June 9 to celebrate her wonderful life and will welcome her friends and neighbors to come and celebrate with the family. At a later time, all extended family will gather in Duncannon, Pennsylvania for a personal celebration and to join in spreading her ashes.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests a contribution in Susie's memory to the Community Hospice of Texas, 6100 Western Place, Suite 500, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. In her final days, they were so compassionate in their caring for her. Neptune Society of DFW
