To Bruce,Jayden, Aunt Marg and family...may this offer you some comfort in these difficult moments:
It is Love’s Way
The love we share with another
Seems to be a timely thing
Like a storm it can come quickly
Like the wind, be enduring and free….
As it captures all our being
And we create an eternal bond…
We are imprinted in each other’s soul
Through this dimension… and beyond
True Love that brings fulfillment
And beauty never know
Is Love that is unconditional
And willing to let go…
It is Love’s way to teach us
We must focus on each day
And stay constantly in the moment
We can find peace, living this way…
For it removes us from the fear
Of losing, those we love
And God’s wisdom offers comfort
He will wrap them in His Love…
So we are free, to share
The joys, of remembering love
In the moments of goodbyes and pain
We know there is no suffering, above
So we accept and we remain
Knowing, they will not, be far away
And God will be guiding them
Until we meet again…

Bruce & Jayden;
It was with great sadness that we learned of Susan's passing. Can't help but remember her beautiful voice, positive attitude and infectious smile. She won our hearts as she did so many others. It will no doubt be difficult in the days, weeks, years to come, but know that you and Jayden will cherish the memories you made and had together. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Music is well said to be the speech of angels so with that in mind may Susan's family and friends remember that music is the medicine of the breaking heart.

To Bruce and Family, Laurie and family, Marg and Neil,
We have been friends for over 30 years and I will never forget the great times at the farm, milking cows, dancing in the barn, drive-ins, volleyball games, our cruise. Susan was more than a friend, she was a mentor, a mom, daughter, sister, aunt, performer. You name it, Susan could do it.
I will miss you my friend, but you have been met by wonderful angels, your family.
Big hugs to everyone and my deepest sympathies to all of you in this time of sorrow. God Bless.

Bruce, Jayden & Family:
Our thoughts, love & prayers are with you now, during this very difficult time. Susan was an 'amazing' person. She touched so many lives, ours included. It was just a short time ago that we ran into her & Jayden at the Syncrude SWC. We're so glad for the opportunity to see & speak to her again; so full of hugs & smiles as always. She will be missed and remembered always. God Bless!

Uncle Wes gave me this poem 20 or so years ago. He said he got it from Grandma Stanton, and I share it thinking of Susan and her family in this time of sadness and sorrow.
Are All the Children In?
Author Unknown
I think of times as the night draws nigh
Of an old house on the hill,
Of a yard all wide and blossom-starred
Where the children played at will.
And when the deep night at last came down,
Hushing the merry din,
Mother would look all around and ask,
"Are all the children in?"
'Tis many and many a year since then,
And the old house on the hill
No longer echoes childish feet
And the yard is still, so still.
But I see it all as the shadows creep,
And tho' many the years have been
Since then, I can hear my mother ask,
"Are all the children in?"
I wonder if, when those shadows fall
On the last short earthly day
When we say good-bye to the world outside,
All tired of our childish play,
When we meet the Lover of boys and girls
Who died to save them from sin,
Will we hear Him ask as Mother did,
"Are all the children in?"
May you rest in peace, Susan.

Bruce our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Susan was my movie buddy on the bus going to work and always wondered what movie we were going to watch each night. My wife supplied popcorn and chocolate bars for our movie dates on the long bus ride out to work. Susan will be surely missed and never forgotten.

I recall meeting Susan years ago as very young children although never had the honor of meeting her in our 'adult' life. On July 26 I received the sad news she had passed away and I was truly saddened, not having been aware Susan was fighting cancer until after her passing. I was truly moved by this news as both Susan and Sherry (Luft) were in my thoughts, only one week prior to Susan's passing. When Sherry and I were able to see each other on a more frequent basis I recall Sherry talking about Susan and it was more than apparent how very proud she was of her sister. I do believe the angels bring to mind those who are in need of comfort and prayer.
The condolences in this guestbook are a true testament that Susan continued to inspire her family and friends through her songs with her beautiful voice and that she will be sorely missed. Kindly accept my deepest heartfelt condolences to all of Susan's family. Hold close in your hearts the one you loved so dear to keep them close to you; have faith time will heal your deepest sorrow and lean on your family and friends for support during such a difficult time. May you find comfort in Susan's gift of sharing her voice in many beautiful songs family and friends may enjoy in the coming days ahead.
Sincerely,
Ken and Phyllis Popp

I am so saddened to hear of Susan's passing. I met her 22 years ago when she became my hairdresser. She was a good friend, an amazing singer and a beautiful person who was an inspiration to everyone who was lucky enough to know her - from her incredible singing voice, to her infectious smile and laughter, to her wonderful, caring, generous, sincere attitude. She will be missed so much. My thoughts are with all of Susan's family and friends.

I am very sad to hear of Susan’s passing. I had the privilege of being a member of her band as bass player in 1993. She was an extremely talented and very professional singer . I also remember being part of her very cool 4 song video for Project Discovery which was such a highlight, as well as performing with her at Hootenany in the Hills, Stampede Grandstand breakfast, to name a few. When on stage , she put such feeling and emotion into her music, and I just knew she was a star ! Susan was a very kind , beautiful, and caring person and I will always have fond memories.
Condolences to Bruce, Jayden and family.

Susan; I think of you often and when I do I see you laughing and joking around; your smile and laughter was infectious. You could always brighten a person's day. I still see you singing your heart out in Vegas that many years ago when myself and a couple other friends joined you there for your performances, and after our volleyball games when we'd sometimes all go back to your place where we'd have our own open Mike night and make snow angels in your back yard. I am very sadden that you have gone so soon before your time but I will always remember you..... smiling, laughing, joking, singing and brightening the days. You will dearly be missed by all who know you. My condolences to you Bruce and Jayden. I'm sure your shining star will always be shining down on you. Our prayers are with you.

A Poem of love and hope for Bruce, Jayden,Aunt Marg and family:
WHEN WE SAY GOODBYE
FROM THE START
YOU STOLE MY HEART
IT’S BOUND US FOR ALL TIME
NOT ANOTHER DAY HAS PASSED
WHEN YOU WEREN’T ON MY MIND…
MY TIME HAS COME
I HAVE TO LEAVE
I KNOW YOU’RE FILLED WITH FEAR
KEEP ME ALWAYS IN YOUR HEART
AND YOU WILL FEEL ME NEAR
I WANT TO GIVE, A GIFT OF HOPE
TO FILL YOUR EMPTINESS
MY LOVE SHINES BRIGHTLY,
THROUGH YOUR LIFE
LONG AFTER I’M AT REST…
DON’T YOU CRY, WHEN WE SAY GOOD BYE
DON’T YOU CRY, IT’S ALRIGHT…
I’M PASSING OVER IN A MOMENT OF GRACE
SOARING IN SPIRIT, I’M FREE
I’M STILL ALIVE, IN A DIFFERENT PLACE
FEEL THE WIND KISS YOUR FACE
…AND IT’S ME
AS LIFE FADES FROM MY TIRED EYES
DON’T CLING TO WHAT IS GONE
FIND THE STRENGTH, THAT I TAUGHT YOU
MY LOVE, YOU MUST MOVE ON….
DON’T YOU CRY, WHEN WE SAY GOOD BYE
DON’T YOU CRY, IT’S ALRIGHT…
I’M PASSING OVER IN A MOMENT OF GRACE
SOARING IN SPIRIT, I’M FREE
I’M STILL ALIVE, IN A DIFFERENT PLACE
FEEL THE WIND KISS YOUR FACE
…AND IT’S ME

My dear Susan ... I can't believe you have taken the spirit path so soon. I love you and miss you. I told you long ago that I believed you were an angel and I can see from others messages here that they thought so too! You have taught me a lot about goodness, kindness and caring.
You always told me that we could easily have been sisters and that meant a lot to me ... I have been blessed to have had you as a friend for all these years.
Bruce, it is those left behind that need our love and support ... know that I am here for you. Take good care of Jayden and yourself. You are both in my prayers.
Susan's mom and sisters ... I am so sorry for your loss. I pray that our words will bring you comfort.
God Bless

Bruce, Jayden and Susan's family
My heart is broken to hear of Susan's passing long before her time. I worked with Susan at the Hair Salon in 1987/88 in Fort MacMurray. She was a beautiful person both inside and out. She sang like a angel and although I have been left Fort Mac for many years I have thought about her and wondered how her music career was going. She will be missed so much by all that loved her. My thoughts are with you.

Our deepest sympathy to Bruce & Jayden & to all of Susan's family. Susan gave me a ride home after the first time she ever cut my hair (in 1989) because I'd been in an accident and wasn't able to drive myself at the time & she didn't want me to have to wait for a taxi cab.We loved Susan very much, she taught us and everyone who knew her to enjoy life & to be the very best in whatever we chose to do. We will always keep her beautiful smile in our hearts and hear her inspiring voice singing -forever. Until we meet again Susan!

To Aunt Marg & family
I am so sad to hear that Susan has crossed over, I know from the few times I met her, that she was a very special woman. I have thought of her often, as she was the one who inspired me to learn to sing and pursue songwriting. I wish I could have shared with her where her advice lead me in my life. I wish I would have sent my songs to her sooner than later as I'm sure she would have loved singing them as much as I do. If the family would like I will email the MP3 songs to any of you who would like to hear them. I always hoped one day that Susan might have recorded them...I will do the album I am working on in her memory if that is acceptable to everyone. I know there are no words that can make this better but I do know how it feels to lose the people you love. My heart and thoughts are with you ...that you will all be well supported through this most difficult time. All my love Beth and her son Spencer

We left Fort McMurray several years ago and will miss the true joy that Susan brought into our lives on each encounter.
It was an honor and privilege of working with her on many occasions. We fondly remember her genous spirit and love of enriching the Fort McMurray community when asked to help with various charity and community events by blessing us all with her performances and support.
The gifts of her love, talent, determination and spirit which she so generously shared with the community will forever be cherished by all of us who loved her friendship and gracious presence for decades. Susan's time here on earth was far to short, but her contributions were huge and may her memories and music forever remain in our hearts.
Prayers and blessings to all of her family and friends. Embrace this difficult time and draw the strength from within that will heal your hearts as Susan would truly ask you to do.
She will be with us all in our hearts and memories forever.
