In memory of

SUSAN GURRENTZ

Add memories that will last forever

Not sure what to say?

December 27, 2011

Dear Morty and Family,
Sue, as you know, and I had been friends since grade school. There are so many memories that we shared from her singeing her eyebrows and hair during a sleepover when we mistakingly lit a gas oven thinking fudge was made to be baked to her introducing me to calves liver fried to a rare state after a sitting for my portrait that she painted for me to give to Hank as a surprise wedding gift. As longtime friends we were always able to "pick up where we left off" when speaking with one another.
I can't get her "passing" out of my mind. You were so fortunate to be married to her.

Fondly,

Barbara and Hank (Berns)

Dear Morty,
You were lucky to be with a wonderful woman for so many years. Susan was so accomplished in so many things. We admired her passion and intensity for everything that she was involved in. As well, her thoughtfulness and kindness for things like her children's Xmas party that out family was included in. She will be greatly missed but we are nevertheless grateful and fortunate to have known her. Love, Dorothy and Albert

Although I didn't know Susan Gurrentz, my son, Bill Stout, was their paper boy for many years. One of his fondest memories of being a paper boy was during a Saturday morning "collecting route", Mrs. Gurrentz took him in and showed him all of her equipment ready to be packed for one of her treks in Nepal. My son (then about 11) came home wide-eyed, described everything to us, got out the Atlas to look up Nepal and was just thrilled with the whole experience. This 15 minutes of kindness to the paperboy created a life long memory for him.

Pat,

My thoughts are with you and your family at this time but what an amazing story of a life very well lived! It reminded me of hearing of your mother's artistic endeavors going back as far as the days of Eastmont Elementary School. Losing my own beloved mother two years ago, I hope that in the days, weeks, and months to come, you can be comforted by the warm loving thoughts of the many wonderful moments you shared with her.

So sorry to hear of Sue's death. She grew up on Murdoch Rd with her parents, as I did too. Sue was also a bridesmaid at my sister Jonsie's wedding to Bob Bergman in 1953. I remember her parents Esther and Jack too. Glad Sue and her boys were here in Columbus Ohio several summers ago for a happy occasion. May her memories be a blessing to all of you at this difficult time. Susie Hohenstein Kanter
