HARLINGEN, TX. -
Maria Cruz Leal 85, formerly of Harlingen entered into eternal rest April 27, 2015 in Houston, Texas where she resided for the past 30 years with her daughters. She was born May 3, 1929 in Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Mauro and Florinda Ruiz.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jose Angel Leal.
Maria is survived by her loving family, her children; Jose Angel (Maria Elena) Leal, Arnulfo (Rosa) Leal, Yolanda L. (+Ruben) Garcia, Imelda L. Sosa, Mike (Oralia) Leal, Elva L. (Carmelo) Sanchez, Oralia L. (David) McKenery, Gloria Leal, Jesse (Rita) Leal, Marina L. (Allen) Shemwell; 26 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Roberto, Martin, Pepe, Leopoldo, Eufemia, Lupita, Tere and Socorro Ruiz.
Visitation will be held Wednesday beginning at 10:00 am to 9:00 pm and a holy rosary be prayed at 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Thursday, April 30, 2015 departing the Rudy Garza Funeral Home at 1:30 pm for a 2:00 pm Mass at Queen of Peace Catholic Church and interment will follow at Ashland Cemetery. Honored to be pallbearers will her sons and grandchildren.
Maria was a godly woman who lived a prayerful life, she loved taking care of her grandchildren, cooking for her family and friends and gardening. She was a very devoted and dedicated wife and mother who was loved deeply and will be greatly missed.
