HARRELL, Susan Mrs. Susan Harrell, 85, of Gainesville, GA. passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013. Born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, on October 30, 1927, she was the daughter of Lonnie and Pauline Brinkley. Sue and her family moved to Faceville, Ga. She attended Franklin Baptist Church and graduated from Faceville School before attending Georgia Southwestern College. Sue met her future husband, John P Harrell of Donalsonville, GA at a boarding house in Climax, GA and went on to earn her teaching degree from the University of Georgia. After Sue and John were married April 3, 1950, Edison, GA, John shipped off to Korea. Sue eventually joined John in Japan for an extended "honeymoon". After returning to the states, Sue became a homemaker and the family settled in Atlanta, GA where John was a pilot for Eastern Airlines. In 1973, Sue and John moved to Lake Lanier and enjoyed hosting family and friends at the lake for many years. Sue always had her camera handy and loved to record family events and anything else that could be photographed and put in an album! She had a deep unconditional love for her family. She believed in people and excelled at encouragement and always looked for the best in people. Sue's greatest joy was found in giving to those she loved. Her gifts always had special meaning, and her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family will always cherish her memory. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her Husband, John Plowden Harrell, brother, Fred Brinkley and sister, Gussie Calhoun. She is survived by daughter, Linda Harrell of Winterville, Ga; son and daughter-in-law, John and Laurel Harrell of Marietta; grandchildren; Sarah Sams of Tuscaloosa, AL and husband Beau Sams and their children, Eliza, Beau, Jr., and Sybil. Kurt Harrell of Kennesaw, Jordan Harrell of Kennesaw, Natalie Harrell of Marietta, Isaac Harrell of Marietta; siblings, Jack Brinkley of Columbus, and his wife Sally, Nell Gaines of Lizella, Ann Silver of Bakersfield, CA and her husband Howard; and numerous loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Chuck Bridwell will officiate. Interment will be at Hillside Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Those wishing to make online condolences may do so at www.littledavenport.com.
