I was honored to have been Susan's friend through the Friendly Visiting program over the past year. Although I only knew her during the last year of her life, it was immediately clear that she was a special, intelligent, and spunky woman. Visiting her was always something I looked forward to. As fellow alumnae of Wellesley College (63 years apart!) and avid readers, we quickly discovered how much we had in common. Susan was so proud of her many accomplishments and deeply devoted to her family. She had this very special photo book that she loved that I believe her daughter made for her titled "Mothers" and it was always so sweet to see how much she cherished it. She loved sharing stories from her childhood in New Jersey to her Wellesley days, to her career and family life in Brookline. As a young woman just beginning my own life after graduation, I will always carry Susan's example with me as a reminder to speak one's mind, even when others may not be ready to hear it.
I will miss her dearly and send my heartfelt condolences to all of her family and friends.

It is with much love and sadness that we extend our deepest sympathy to Susan´s family and devoted friends. She was such a powerful force in helping challenged communities and guiding so many colleagues and advocates for neighborhood economic development. Her impact in designing new federal programs and providing technical assistance to many underserved areas only scratched the surface of how many lives Susan touched. Susan´s kindness, friendship, wisdom and dedication to just causes will be a part of our memories and hearts forever. -Marcus, Sara and Jared Weiss
