Susan Mustafa

Susan (Sultan) Mustafa died peacefully on September 2, 2018, in Deerfield Beach, Florida, at the age of 84.

Susan is survived by her children, Nergiin Brown (Patrick), Ossie Shakir (Jennifer), and David Shakir (Sandra); five grandchildren, Heather, Daniel, Natalie, Michael and Amy; three great-grandchildren, Hansi, Kylie and Tristen; brother, Sefer Mustafa (Pervin); sisters, Brenda Hussein (Jemal), Meryem Kolosine; her niece, nephews, many cousins, great-grandnephews, great-grandnieces and her extended Turkish Family. She is preceded in death by her parents Mustafa and Kulfire Sefer; husband, Shakir "Jack" Mustafa; nephew, Ertan Hussein; niece, Gulsen Justice and her brother-in-law, Mustafa Kolosine.

Susan was born on February 25, 1934, in Lefkara, Cyprus, to Sefer and Kulfire Sefer. Susan began sewing at a very young age to help with the family finances. After moving to London, England, in 1949 with her parents, brother and sisters, she got married, started a family and continued working as a seamstress in factories and out of her home. Susan was a dedicated, hard-working and talented seamstress, who could create beautiful garments and her own designs without a pattern. In February 1975, Susan came to the U.S. with her husband (now deceased) and children. She continued to work tirelessly to help support her family and create better opportunities for them that she was not afforded.

Susan loved being around her family and friends and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Susan enjoyed visiting with neighbors and had many great friends. Special thanks to Debbie Rollo who visited Susan daily, kept a close watch over her. Susan enjoyed walking with Debbie and her dog Zero. Susan also had a passion for cooking, gardening, watching her favorite TV shows, walking on the beach and other social activities. Susan was a member of the Women's Club of Deerfield Beach since approximately 2006 and established many valued friendships.

A private viewing is scheduled for the family from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a visitation/reception from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. and burial at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064.
