Suzanne Laidlaw, 78 years of age of Minden, NE, formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, died on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Bethany Home in Minden. Suzanne was born on April 7, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa to Forrest and Dorothy (Owen) Graham. She grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Tech High School.

On September 20, 1952 she married William Laidlaw. They lived in West Des Moines. To this union five children were born, Debra, Rebecca, Forrest, William Jr. and James.

Suzanne stayed home raising her family and also helped raise many other children as a day care provider. She later worked for Purolator and then Sears in their accounting department.

Suzanne will be remembered for her devotion to her family, friends, church and her Lord. Her life was a blessing…her love, kindness and compassion were beyond measure and her memory a lasting treasure.

Suzanne was a former member of Valley United Methodist Church in West Des Moines and active member of Gatchell United Methodist Church in Des Moines.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra Mohlis and husband, John of Oregon City, OR and Rebecca Vanfossen and husband, Ted of Axtell, NE; three sons, Forrest Laidlaw and fiancée, Debra of Des Moines, William Jr. and wife, Jill of West Des Moines and James Laidlaw and wife, Ginger of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren; Jodi and husband, Daniel, Andrew, Megan and husband Aaron, Christopher, Carrie and boyfriend, Tim, Benjamin, Bailey, Alexis and Samuel; five great grandchildren, Jackson, Nolan, Krissa, Henry and Madilyn; brother, James Graham and wife, Patricia of Des Moines and sister Sharon Sellers and husband, Lynn of Arvada, CO; brother in-law, Larry Harper of Adel, Iowa and former husband, William Laidlaw Sr. of West Des Moines; special cousin, Marcia Holeman and husband John of Centerville, Iowa. She was proceeded in death by her parents, great grandson, Marcus Daniel Graves and sister in-law, Carolyn Harper.

Memorial services will be on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Burns United Methodist Church in Des Moines. Memorials are suggested to the Burns United Methodist Church. Layton-Craig Funeral Home of Minden, NE is in charge of arrangements.
