Sweetie Adams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 3, 2020.
Mrs. Sweetie Adams, 85, of Robbins St., passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 3, 2020, at home. Mrs. Adams was born September 8, 1935, in Montgomery, AL, daughter to the late John Henry and Julia Mae (Ballard) Stenson. Sweetie was educated in the Alabama Public School System where she graduated from Carver High School. In 1967, she relocated to Waterbury. Sweetie was employed at Waterbury Hospital, as a Dietary Supervisor, for 33 years before her retirement. She was a longtime member of Zion Baptist Church where she was an active member of the Pastor's Aide Committee, for many years. Sweetie was an elegant dresser that never missed an opportunity to wear one of her many dazzling outfits along with one of her signature hats, which completed her ensemble. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, sewing and took exceptional joy in shopping. She was a very compassionate, kind and giving soul that loved people. Her birth name was who she was. She was a SWEET PERSON that always thought of others before thinking of herself. Every birthday, holiday, or special occasion, she thoughtfully remembered her friends and family by giving them gifts. Sweeties life was enriched with family and friends and will be remembered for her beautiful smile and warm heart that she unselfishly shared with everyone. She leaves to cherish her memories a son; Walter Adams, three sisters; her beloved Estell Stenson of Waterbury (not one day or night went by without them greeting each other), Annette Cooper of Waterbury, and Patricia Savage of New Jersey, two brothers; Greg (Lori) Stenson of Prospect and James E. Stenson of Montgomery, AL. She was predeceased by a son; Gary Adams.

I am so sorry to hear of Ms. Sweetie's passing. She was a role model of style and grace. I will miss seeing her at church and our teasing about each other's outfit. She was always with her sister by her side. May she rest in the Lord's arms at peace
