SYLVESTER JOHN CHODY JR.

July 11, 1931 - September 21, 2022

Sylvester John Chody Jr., 91, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2022 surrounded by family and into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was passionate about sharing his love for Jesus and making beautiful memories with his family.

Sylvester is survived by Joanne Chody, his devoted and loving wife of 70 years. He was a proud father to: Lance (Megan) Chody, Brenda (Terry) Livingston and Jan (Scott) Fowle. His cherished grandchildren include Jessica (Brandon) Dart, Lindsey (Ian) Leonhardt, Patrick (Christine) Livingston, Victoria Livingston, Curtis (Cara) Fowle, Kevin Fowle, Hannah (Chad) Milburn, Elle Chody and Brett Chody.

Sylvester loved his family, and it was further brightened by a charming group of great-grandchildren too: Teeghan and Kinnlee Dart, Bode, Daxton and Taylin Leonhardt and Lila, Jay and Ivy Livingston.

Sylvester served in the US Army 1952-1954 as a Cryptographer in Korea and received full military honors at burial. His professional career was full of successes, including practicing public accounting with a practice he began in 1974. Sylvester devoted his life to many charitable causes of which two of the longest standing were board positions on Awana International Clubs and the Inner City Impact for 42 and 43 years, respectively. Both organizations remain dear to Joanne and the family. The family had a lovely private service. Memorials can be made to https://www.awana.org https://icichicago.org
