FISHMAN, SYLVIA (SHEMEL), age 90, formerly of NYC, N.Y. passed away peacefully March 19, 2007 at her home in Aventura, FL. Beloved wife of the late Seymour Fishman. Loving mother of Steven J. Fishman of Birmingham, MI and Judith L. Singer of Santa Monica, CA. Dear sister of Helene (the late Bill) Susman, and the late Sidney (Shirley) Shemel. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Cherished grandmother of Laura (Jason) Ryan and Stephanie (Alec) Marketos and great-grandmother of Jordan and Sydney Ryan and Alexander and Lia Marketos. Friend to many. A former model and decorator, charming, intelligent, and handsome, she was the perfect partner to Seymour for over 60 years as he pursued various careers, from psychology to stocks to fund raising, last as Executive Director of the American Friends of the Hebrew University, before they moved permanently to Florida. She helped him to achieve. Now released from life, she has found enduring peace. The family will receive friends at the Riverside- Gordon Memorial Chapel, 20955 Biscayne Blvd, Aventura, Florida 33180, Sunday, April 1st, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to celebrate her life.
