Sylvia “Susie” Ann Barbour Hein, 61, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Susie was born September 24, 1956, the daughter of Geraldine Weaver Barbour and the late Leon Earmon Barbour. She was a very talented and successful owner of her interior design business, Capital Carpets & Interiors, in Raleigh. She loved her family and was a very beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She cared for her mother (Mema) over the past 10 years while, in turn, Mema cared for her.
Susie is survived by her daughter, Samantha Nicole Hein; granddaughter, Paisley Nicole Hein; mother, Geraldine “Mema” Weaver Barbour; brother, Gary Leon Barbour; sister, Paula Jo Gatlyn; as well as Samantha’s father, Frederick Hein, Jr. and wife, Charlene Holmes Hein.
A celebration of her life will be Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 6:00 pm, in the McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel, 12830 US 70 Business HWY W, Clayton, NC 27520. The family will receive friends for a reception following the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff of the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield for their loving care for Susie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Road, Smithfield, NC 27577.

Mrs. Geraldine,
I am so sorry about the loss of Susie. I saw her a couple of months ago. She was such an inspiration to me as we talked. She seemed so at peace with everything. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
