Samuel Ezekiel Madden

Samuel Ezekiel "Zeke" Madden, 75, of Norman passed away Saturday December 1, 2018.
He was born September 1, 1943 at home in Dibble, OK to Joseph Samuel Madden and Dovie Mitchell Madden.

Sam lived almost his entire life in Norman, OK. He graduated from Norman High School in 1961. Later that same year he met the love of his life, his soulmate and best friend, Carolyn McGarry while out cruising around in his car .They were married in Oklahoma City on December 21, 1962. They moved to Norman on December 26, 1969 and he remained a Norman resident for the remainder of his life.

Sam accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the age of 19 and was baptized in Oklahoma City. He was honored to serve the Lord anyway he could and was a very involved member of Alameda Baptist Church. He was a Deacon and served as Chairman of Deacons for a while. It broke his heart when his body got to where he couldn't do what he felt he could to serve God.

He was a very hard working man all of his life. He worked for Rainbo Baking Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1999. After retirement he spent many years in the flea market "business" purchasing abandoned storage units at auctions and selling what he found. When his body was stronger, he was always working on something.

Sam was a very personable person and never met a stranger. We have often said that he could talk to a fence post and within five minutes have the post chatting back! When first meeting someone, he would talk about his family the most. He was so proud of each and everyone of them.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Carolyn of almost 56 years; children: Greg Madden and wife Darla of Moore, Jodie Madden-Daffer and husband Steven of Norman; siblings: Don Madden and wife Dian of Norman, Sherland York and husband Johnny of Slaughterville, OK , Linda Draper and husband Gene of Norman, brother Jeff Madden and wife Robin of Norman, brother Leonard Madden and wife Beth of Minco, OK and baby sister Retha Baccus and husband George of Norman; Sam was known as "Papa" to four grandchildren: Danielle McCutchen and husband Josh of Moore, Jacob Madden and wife Rachel of Moore, Lauren Daffer and Remington Butler of Norman, and Zachary Daffer of Norman. Along with nine great grandchildren: Jarrett, Giana, Emma, Evan, Isaac, Charlee, Judah, Hudson, and Lincoln; all of whom he was so very proud of.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents; infant sister: Margaret Madden and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday December 4, 2018 at Primrose Funeral Service. Funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 5, 2018 at Alameda Baptist Church, Norman. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Norman, OK.
