Bon anniversaire!
The air is crisp, mountains all around...seeing you like a flower still blooming brightly. Your love is like that flower, still teaching me to find and appreciate beauty even in moments of transition. I miss your laugh, your guidance, smile, wisdom, hugs, delicious family meals. Honoring you today, simply sitting outside appreciating the beauty of nature. it's so clear now. You were so much like a flower-always teaching me about growth, resilience, and finding beauty in the everyday. And even though you're not physically here to see this change of season with me, I feel you all around, reminding me that new beauty and new lessons always follow a period of change.
I miss you so very much, forever grateful. Loving you always.

Souvenir of a dinner at restaurant during Visa at Perpignan, dinner who become an annual ritual. Each time a pleasure to share good food but most of all precious moments. I Love my discussions with Sylvie, listening her, learning from her, sharing with her special moments (kind of women could have). The expression "far from eyes, far for heart" was not appropriate because we keept a contact, always with tenderness. Directly and by the medium of Jean-Pierre for which I have lots of affection too. Thanks Sylvie ! Keep you in my heart.

My heartfelt condolences to JP, Vanessa, Lucas, Remy and the entire Ayache family. I am grateful to have known Sylvie. Such a wonderful woman, whose vibrance, warmth, kindness and generosity I will not forget. My boys still cuddle with the beautifully made blankets she sent when they were born and I cherish the lovely painted cards and memories I have.

Dear JP;
Debora and I know what a wonderful person Sylvie was, and how much she meant to you. She meant a lot to us as well. I noticed on the obituary page you sent that there was an option to plant trees, which she loved, in her honor. I thought that this would be a wonderful tribute, but it doesn't say where the trees are planted. So I did a search and found a link to plant fruit trees in the kibbutzim on the Gaza border that were devastated on October 7th. We felt that this would be an even greater honor for Sylvie, as the tree will bear fruit, restore the livelihoods of the farmers, and bring Jewish life back to Eretz Israel.
All our love,
Allan & Debora

In the book entitled; "BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA" a tragic event results in the loss of a friend to their closest friend. The bond of love and friendship between JP & his beloved Sylvie reminded me of the links as described in this beautiful story. While it highlights this bond between younger friends, its themes fit, for me the vows between JP & Sylvie. The commitment, the simpatico of mutual respect and dependance are lessons for partners of any age, stature and place. It is a transcendent lesson that teaches as it nurtures. And so it was between these lovely adults. It is said that grief lies where love has no place to go. For this loving couple it was the love that was and continues remain for evermore.

Sylvie, I will always miss you and our conversations about so many subjects. The ones I remember the most are related to our family.
You, Remy, and I confronted losses early. This includes our forced departure from Algiers, where we were born, to the beautiful Riveria and then our immigration to the USA. The loss of our father and mother at such an early age. You were always there at the oldest to offer us comfort.
There were other adversities facing all of us, but your strength though it all shows the kind of person you were.
We often spoke of your children Erik and Vanessa, of my children Simone , Nicole, and Philippe and of Remy´s two Children , Maurice, and Gabriel; and then of all our grandchildren.
You helped me and supported me through some very personal issues and those will never be forgotten.
Remy and I were so happy that you and Jean Pierre found each other. This was/is a pure love that is so rare. You and JP helped each other through challenging times as well as enjoyed the special happiness for each other and for all the family.
The dinner and family gathering at 1326 Madison stand out as great warm times; and let´s not forget your superb cooking! Having all our respective family members there will always be some of my fondest memories.
You left us too early, but you also are leaving us with such wonderful memories of you as always giving to others and being an inspiration to us. These memories as well as all the beautiful painting you did for me will always be a source of comfort.
I would be remiss if I do not mention that I have always loved the beautiful ties you gave me over the years and the unique and superb hats you made for me. Wearing your own creations always made me feel loved by you.
I will miss my big sister.

My dear sister Sylvie,
You were certainly one of a kind with your own style, a gift for languages (French, English, Spanish, ancient Latin and Greek studies) and always driven by your passion of art and art appreciation since a very early age. We often talked that it was not so easy for me, the younger brother, at the Lycée Français de NY to always hear the art & drawing teacher say the same thing: why can´t I be taking after my sister in art! Here you were, always able to create drawings whether in black and white or aquarelles with so much ease, talent and beauty!
We certainly experienced so many changes as a family travelling across the world on ocean liners at such a young age. Our caring parents were always thinking of us, our lives and our futures. Moving from Algiers to Cannes then to New York, changing schools, making new friends, and learning new languages brought you, our brother Robert and I closer together to face the new world and thrive in the land of opportunity.
Certainly, life was a challenge at times with children at such a young age but for me having a nephew and niece so close in age was like having younger siblings! Your marriage to Jean-Pierre in 1988 brought you both a lot of joy and a wonderful life together filled with adventures, travels and happiness. I love you Sylvie and will miss my older sister so much and I am comforted to have had many years with a wonderful sister.
May your memory be a blessing to all of us (zikhronah livrakha )

It was our pleasure to have met Sylvie.
She was a new neighbor in New Hampshire and our time together was brief.
We have come to learn through family and friends she lived a loving and creative life.
What an amazing person and what a remarkable life.

I am so very sad to learn of Sylvie´s passing at still a young age. She was my classmate at the Lycée Francais but also a sweet friend of whom I have so many fond memories that I have kept in my heart all these years. I also fondly remember her parents and 2 brothers. A really great family. I regret that I didn´t keep in touch with such a beautiful person. I am happy though to know that she was so talented and touched so many people with her creativity and that she had a loving family. Dear Sylvie I will never forgot you and I wish you a peaceful eternal rest. Perhaps we will once again meet in heaven. I was blessed to have you as a friend in my early years.

Ciao Sylvie. La tua sensibilità e la tua gentilezza verranno ricordate anche qui a Dolceacqua, tra i vigneti, gli alberi di mimosa e di fichi che ispiravano i tuoi bei disegni e i pensieri felici insieme a Jean-Pierre. Riposa in pace.

It all began with Sylvie's Mother, Alfreda ! My name is Kenneth Weinstein, friend and doctor, whose wife, Frida was born in France. Alfreda had a shop on Madison Ave, not far from where we lived. Since Frida and I were about to marry, and the shop catered to French readers with magazines and periodicals appealing to French readers, I spent lots of time there, getting stuff for Frida, but at the same time met Sylvie who then became good friends with Frida. Sylvie (and her Mother as well) sooner or later became my patients when I started my medical practice. We all became good friends, especially when Jean Pierre became part of the picture. Over the many years, Frida developed such confidence in Sylvie's opinions, that we came to depend on her for major kinds of decisions. The colors our apartment should be painted, where certain furniture should be placed, where and what pictures should be hung, personally overseeing the painting of our apartment while we were vacationing. More importantly perhaps, choosing the proper cover for a newer edition of the book Frida wrote. Beyond that, the innumerable soups and food goodies which would come to our apartment after she and JP would shop at Zabar's,or a Kosher shop on the east side, or after a trip to the country. We all spent many hours together, having dinner together somewhere, or even being with them on a jaunt outside the city... It's not easy to realize that she is gone. We miss her terribly, and she will remain in our memory forever.
