GILES, T.L.A (Laurie) June 24, 1914- September 14, 2005 At Gatineau, in his 92nd year. Predeceased by his wife Rena (Cameron) Giles. Father of Robbie and Norman. Grandfather of Larry. A lifetime resident of East Templeton (Gatineau) with early childhood relocations during the "Depression" to Old Fort York and Detroit, Michigan. Laurie was an active vibrant soul who was: a boxer, one of the last log "drivers", a long time employee of the Masonite Mill in Gatineau, a volunteer Red Cross and Lifesaving Instructor who taught hundreds of Gatineau residents how to swim, a former Municipal Councillor, an artist, a caregiver to his wife and family, an outdoorsman and a navigator and bombardier in the RCAF during WWII. He touched the lives of many in a caring and respectful way. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod St. on Sunday, September 18, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday, September 19 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Dunning Cemetery.
