Talbot Israel Spivak, 69 formally of Fort Myers passed away Sunday December 31, 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Mandie, Children Asha, Elane, Louie, and Sammy.
Funeral Services will be 4:00PM Wednesday (TODAY) at Lee Memorial Park Funeral Home 12777 State Road 82.

Dr. Spivak was, hands-down, one of my favorite professors ever. He brought such passion and insight to the World Literature course I took at ECC back in the early 90's that he had the entire class captivated. I also remember his kindness and gentility. Now over 25 years since I was one of his students, I still think about him every time I read a class piece of lit for pleasure. I was saddened to learn of his passing only today, nearly 12 years after the fact.

I knew Talbot Spivak when he taught at Edison College and I worked in Learning Resources. He attended my retirement party in 1996. Where there's food they will come, as the saying goes, but I will always remember his pleasant manner and smile. My sympathy to the family.

I will always be grateful that Talbot recommended such a fine Comp teacher for Preston, our oldest son. Please find comfort that Talbot's life made a difference in so many people's lives.

So sorry to hear about Talbot. He taught at Edison college when I worked there as a librarian. Although we were only casual acqaintances I respected his knowlege

Dr. Spivak was a teacher of mine 2 or 3 times at Edison College for different English and Creative Writing classes. He was a wonderful person, funny, extremely smart, and interesting. I am so sorry for your loss.
