In Loving Memory of Tara White

Celebrating the Wild, Beautiful Spirit

(February 1, 1983 - December 7, 2024)

With heavy hearts, we share the sudden and tragic loss of Tara White, a warrior of unparalleled strength, kindness, love and beauty to her core. A survivor of abuse and a devastating dog attack that tested the limits of human endurance, Tara faced every challenge with resilience and a heart that remained open and kind.

Tara's empathy was boundless. She was the kind of person to bring the neighborhood plow guy a warm drink and cookies on a frigid Maine day. She made holidays extra special for her loves, and made lasting memories for her neighbors by creating dreamscapes of Halloween and Christmas.

Tara lived with fierce kindness and unapologetic love. Her greatest treasures were her son, Liam who she spun a world of magic around, and her soulmate, Pete Grosso. Their love wasn't just romantic-it was revolutionary. With Pete, Tara felt safe, cherished, and capable of dreaming about their future together: a life lived off the land with a garden, animals, and endless porch talks and fire pit cocktails.

Tara loved horror movies, growing things, cooking, walks on the beach with their dog Charlie or just relaxing binge watching her favorite tv show cuddled with Pete, Charlie and their cat Kiwi. Tara loved all things black and gory which is how she earned her nickname Wednesday.

Tara's life was on the brink of transformation-she was preparing for her final surgery, building a life with Pete, and setting her sights on nursing school. Her passion for helping others inspired her to pursue a career as a trauma nurse, in honor of the caregivers who helped her through her darkest days.

Tara is survived by her son Liam, her loving partner Pete, her co-parents Gabe and Amy, and the countless friends and loved ones whose lives she touched with her radiant kindness. She was a beautiful, kind-hearted warrior who left the world far too soon, she left knowing she was loved and lovable-fiercely and completely thanks to Pete.

A celebration of Tara's life will take in the spring with details to come. In her memory, donations can be made to Mainiacs Cornhole Family Fund.

I´m forever grateful for our friendship after meeting you as Liam´s teacher, as well as our mutual experiences raising children the same age and in the same class. Your strength was otherworldly, and I had had the utmost awe and respect for you the day we met. You´ll be missed beyond words. My heart hurts that you and your loved ones miss out on an amazing life together. Liam is the luckiest boy in the world to have you as his mom. I know you´ll keep watching over him.
