Ted was an enthusiastic skiier. I first met him on a European ski trip and became his ski buddy at Chamonix, France. We got lost in the fog and skied Courmayour, Italy with Joan. We got stuck in a blizzard together, and told tall tales about skiing while we sat out the storm in the lodge. He always wanted to get a pair of Strolz Austrian ski boots, like the ones I had, and I encouraged him to get a pair, but I think he quit skiing before he could get them.

So long, Ted, may you find smooth slopes where you're headed.

My husband Jim Caton and myself, Charlotte (Cox)Caton, both attended the Highland school district where Ted himself, along with the Rudd family and their children, attended. So we all grew up in this area together. I'm proud to say, Ted was our friend. Whenever I was placed in the Memorial Hospital in Yakima, there a voice would come in the dark of the late night, that whispered softly saying..."Charlotte, Charlotte, wake up....Charlotte, it's Ted". I would eventully wake up and ask.."Ted who"? Ted would say.."Charlotte, it's Ted Rudd, how are you doing"? I'd answer him with..."Ted, not so good, I'm in the hospital". But Ted somehow found the time to stop and visit and check me out every time I ended up in the hopital. I told him we had to quit meeting like this. He only laughed. Whenever I asked why he was there, he would answer with, "I just delivered a baby and saw your name on the admittance list, so came to see how you're doing". I'd explain my problem and after a short whispered visit he'd be gone. Yes, Ted shows me he cared. I enjoyed his humor too. We had many laughs together. I'm still in shock that he's passed on. Shouldn't have happened that way. All these years I find myself still wondering, Why did we always whisper? Maybe he was hiding out,Ha, who knows, but we whispered every time he visited with me. I had planned on attending Ted's Reception, but Jim has his Dialysis treatment on Saturdays and I take him, stay awhile then pick him back up, so the timing is just wrong for either of us to attend. Know my heart is with all of you. I especailly would have liked to of seen Ted's son Eric and family and his sister Ruthie. But know my prayers are with all of you and all your family. May you be blessed in the coming months ahead. Know you're in my heart and I'm thinking about all of you at this time. Sad yes, but good memories live on. Know that Ted will always live in your heart. He'll forever be with you. Love, Charlotte, and Jim too.

My favorite memory is seeing Dr. Rudd hold his grand-daughter, Bailey Nicole. I have photo somewhere. My heart goes out to you all, I wish I could attend and hug my beautiful niece. All my love and prayers during this tragic loss.

My girls and I were blessed to have had Dr. Rudd in our lives. He delivered my girls 10 years apart and remembered me all those years later. My first was born on his birthday, I never knew that. He was the type of doctor a person could be completely honest with, he was caring and protective. Yakima has truly lost one of its greatest assets. RIP Dr. Rudd, I was so lucky to have you in our lives.

Dr. Rudd gave me my miracle baby boy Keith almost 15 years ago. After being told my genetic specialists that Keith would have special needs, Dr. Rudd supported my husband and I as we continued on. After an emergency c-section where my son's life and mine were in grave danger, he delivered a perfectly healthy boy with no special needs at 9am on Feb. 28, 1998. He took great care of us during the pregrency and through the delivery, and saying thank you doesn't seem to be enough. We thank God for him everyday, and for Dr. Rudd believing in the miracle of life. Please accept my condolences during this time.

Sorry Ted, we were not able to go to Cuba in your sailboat....who knows maybe by now you have gone......
You delivered my daughter, Olimpia in 1976 and
took care of me throughout difficult problems.
Thank you for being a great OB/Gyn and friend.
It was hard seeing you at the hospital laying there with the respirator and all the equipment.
My heart went out to Holly, Joan and Vicki....
Thank you for all the great care that you gave to all of your patients. May God keep you in his loving arms. Fred and I give our condolences to all of your family.

I was a friend and colleage of Ted's for many years. We met at WSU and graduated the same year. We were medical school classmates and both became Ob/Gyns. We not only participated in the same specialty societies, we shared sking trips together. Myself and the Ob/Gyn profession will miss him deeply.

I miss you Ted. We had 33 years together, which I spent most of my time giving you a bad time for being late to the office. You were one of the best doctors, friend, and boss. I will miss you more than you know. Love, Vicki

My thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Rudd's family and friends. He and I were class mates in medcal school at the University of Washington and in our internship at the Hennepin County Hospital in Minneapolis. My practice was also obstetrics and gynecology. It was always great to see him at medical meetings and reunions of various sorts as his sense of humor was always appreciated by me.

Ted was one of the good guys. We met some 30+ years ago in the Handball Courts of the YMCA and later the YAC. Ted was not only completive in the court, but one of the few surgeons that played Handball, putting aside the excuse of finger injury risk. My first memories of Ted were in his 240Z sports car, him riding his bike, or running a 10K!! Most recently I would see him in the stands, watching his grandkids compete in sports. I know he was very proud of them.
Please accept my sympathy.

I was truly saddened to hear of Dr's auto accident. He delivered both of my children in 1975 and 78. He was a remarkable man and it's such a shame that his life was cut short. Please know that many many will miss him and are thankful for the abundant life he lived in service to the community. His legacy and influence reaches throught the world through the generations he touched. May God bless you richly and give you great peace.

Ted will be missed by all who knew him. I grew up with Ted and went thru Hight School with him. Delane Smith and I were married right after graduation, and Ted was the Best Man. I still remember how he and Eddie VanDusen Panted the car and pretended to be the real Vandals while in the end they whisked us away to use another car. Foolish stuff, but good, fun, to remember.

Dr. Rudd's passing is a tremendous loss to the local medical community. In addition to being a kind and compassionate physician, Dr. Rudd was a strong proponent of medical education and teaching others. Dr. Rudd always put the good of the community ahead of any other consideration. I will also miss his many tales of motorcycle adventures. Our prayers are with his family.

Dr.Rudd delivered all three of my sons. He was a wonderful man who took the time to talk with you and made sure you understood what he was saying. I remember the last appointment I had with him, he was 45 minutes late and Vicky was getting worried, when he strolled in saying he went for a bike ride :-) I laughed , he laughed, Vicky however did not laugh... He was a caring and wonderful doctor....

I will never forget DR. Rudd delivering my baby girls, in 1974 and 1980. In May of 1978 he was there to deliver my baby girl who died 4 hours later of a unforseen birth defect. Ted was an amazing help during the dark days ahead. I will miss him greatly.

You said it, brother Richard K. Stiles. The ties that bind are definitely there between the Stiles' children and Dr. Rudd. We like to refer to him as "Ted" like dad did. Ted helped bless my husband and me with two healthy babies, even postponing a vacation in 1993 to be present -- with Dr. Stiles -- for the birth of Dr. Stiles' grandson, Michael.
We are forever grateful, Ted, for your warmth, skillful care, sense of fun and expertise. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.
With sincere appreciation and admiration,
Jennifer Woodkey & family

Dr Rudd was an amazing man who was with us every step of the way while my husband Kory and I were trying to have babies. We ended up losing four before he helped me thru my pregnancy and came in specially on Fathers day to deliver our one and only son. It was the best gift he could give my husband and we will always cherish the many hours and years we worked together as a team. May he rest in peace and to his family, are prayers and blessings are with you at this time of sorrow. He was an amazing man!!!

On November 25, 1973 (39 years ago today!) at 5:23 in the AM, Dr. Rudd delivered by C-Section a baby boy who forever changed MY life. I will always be grateful for his skilled hands, his humor, his compassion and the health care he gave me over the next 33 years. I am truly saddened to read of his untimely death. My condolences to his family and friends for their loss.

Dr. Rudd was an excellent Dr. and very dedicated. In 1976 he stayed on a cot overnite while I was in labor with my little girl at YVMH. He was a truly dedicated Dr. and always had time to talk at the hospital while making rounds. He was a favorite!
He truly was a talented and smart person!
He will be missed by many.
I was always amazed how many miles he rode his bike. Even ridding his bike to Camp Dudley I think he was meeting Holly at camp, that takes a lot of endurance!
My prayers are with all of his family and for Dr. Rudd, he was one of the best Drs. in this area, a very noble man.
Prayers,
Jeanene Smith
