Services for Ted Saba, 89, of Tyler, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Lloyd James Funeral chapel with Tracy Crawford officiating. Entombment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

Mr. Saba died on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at his home in Tyler.

He was born on May 13, 1919, in Port Arthur to the late Gus and Mathilda Saba. He attended Port Arthur High School and graduated from Texas A&M. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Radio Bible Class. He was retired from the real estate business. He was an avid golfer and won many awards during his lifetime. He was a supporter and member of the Smith County Humane Society and sponsored a golf tournament to benefit the Humane Society, and was a Mason of Lodge No. 1233.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Emile Saba; a sister, Helen Worden; and his first wife of 57 years, Thelma Keyea Saba.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Dee Saba; stepdaughter, Linda Allen and husband Terry Combs; stepgrandchildren, Sean Sanders and wife Lindy, Heather Sanders and Devin Sanders; three great-grandchildren; nieces, Paluen Moore and Sara Wallace; nephew, Gus Saba; other great-nieces and great-nephews; sister-in-law, Joyce Saba of Port Arthur; and his caregivers, Bonnie Smith, Doris Bryant and Bernadeth Bryant.

Pallbearers are Dean Johnston, Mike Wedemeyer, Art Johnson, Cliff Lasseter, Mike Johnston, Mark Saleh, Larry Barbin and Kenneth Ivy.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Major's Pharmacy Koffee Klutch, Radio Bible Class and Tyler-Smith County A&M Club.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, 75701; or the Smith County Humane Society, P. O. Box 6151, Tyler, 75711.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. S. J. Vukelja.

Thanks to all of you for you comments.
Ted was so very special to all of us. I was so proud to have been his daughter, if only for a short time. I loved him for the joy he brought my mother, Dee, and our family.
