Dear Dad,

Today at work, I thought about you and your blue truck that you just loved to tinker with---- wash, wax, and how you admired your creative handiwork. I thought about your business installing chain link fences after you retired, along with George, Rick, and Mama, your helpers. You were so proud of your work. Thank you querido papa, for your love and pride for life. I will always remember your kind heart for all people.

Querido Papa,
I miss you so very much. I pass by your room everyday and cry at the thought that you are not there anymore. I hope you know that we absolutely loved you and that we did the very best we could to keep you happy and comfortable. I miss your humor and wonder how you were able to maintain such a positive attitude despite your failing health. You were such a great man and I hope you are finally at peace. Te quiero, mi viejito.

My heart felt sympathy for your loss of your father, grandfather, and my Tio. I do remember the happier times on Hutchins Street, when I was little. I want to thank you for all those years.

I was deeply sad to hear of the loss of Mr. Castillo. I will always remember how funny and generous he was. He lived next door to us for years and years. He was always happy.
