Veteran

Terry passed away unexpectedly at Madigan Medical Center on February 24, 2012. He was born on June 30, 1938 in London, England to James Patrick and Bridget (Myrtle Jessie Riley) Malone.

When their family home was bombed during the blitz in WWII, they temporarily relocated to the village of Buckleberry in Berkshire, England. After returning home to London, Terry finished school and then came to the United States in 1956 to join his mother and sister.

Terry proudly served in the United States Air Force for 21 years, before retiring as a Master Sergeant. As a flight line chief his career enabled him to travel all over the world. He served three tours in Vietnam where he was awarded medals for Meritorious Service.

Terry belonged to the Holy Names Society and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Devoted to his family and an avid gardener, he generously shared his bounteous harvests of dahlias, stargazers, lilies, tomatoes and runner beans. He loved all animals and always gave his pets special care. He was a voracious reader and had an extensive knowledge of history.

Terry is survived by his sister, Shelagh and George C. Venard Jr.; nephews, Steven James Venard and George III and Nancy Venard; niece, Susan Patricia Venard and great-niece Stephanie Melinda Venard.

There will be a funeral Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Thursday, March 1, 2012 (6th and Veneta) at 11 a.m., preceded by the Rosary at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow at Camerman Hall.

Donations can be made in his memory to Our Lady Star of the Sea or the Kitsap Humane Society.

Our Terry was a kind and gentle man, who was the center of our family. We will miss his wit and loving disposition.
