Terence “Terry” Joseph Claypool, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a short illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday January 21, 2023 at Teahen Funeral Home by Penny Ackerman. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday after 12:30 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home.
Terry is survived by his sisters, Renita Herman of Cedar Rapids and Colleen Claypool (Terry Graveman) of Newhall; 10 nieces and nephews; and 17 great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Judith Trimble.
Terry was born on December 11, 1963 in Cedar Rapids, son of Ronald and Mary Claypool. He graduated in 1981 from Washington in Vinton. Terry worked as a dishwasher for Life Investors in Cedar Rapids.
Terry enjoyed listening to music, watching football and old westerns, collecting matchbox cars, playing tennis with his sister Colleen and boxing each other in their basement, and when he was younger he loved working on cars with his dad. Terry was a generous soul and would even help sweep and clean at the Newhall School after basketball games with his friend Kelly.
Terry’s family would like to thank Mercy Hospital Emergency Team and the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy with special thanks to Teresa and Casey for their excellent care of Terry.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
