Teresa Mallini Davis – "Keep on Truckin," one of Teresa's favorite expressions is what she would tell us all today, May 6, 2013, now that she has gone to taste of the celestial epicurean delights. Teresa has filled her passport of life with the final destination of us all. "I don't want to grow old in a retirement home," is what she would tell her children, often enough that they would just agree and go about their day. Teresa has now arrived at the retirement home for all. Upon the way though, Teresa's open door policy extended not only to family but to friends, and she lost count of those that were "fed" by her, both physically and emotionally. Teresa was full of wisdom and practicality about life. One of her nuggets of wisdom to live by was, "the word can't is not in your vocabulary." Of course, this means that we all have to try to follow her advice. Teresa's professional life was being a nurse, but for her, it was not just a profession, it was a vocation. Typically, raising two children put this vocation to the test and not just when they were young. With the sense of adventure and travelling that Teresa instilled in her children, her nursing skills were necessary even in their adulthood. Teresa's nursing career world travels earned her visas from many countries which afforded her the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the cultures of the world, especially the epicurean culinary delights. Teresa wishes to thank all those who educated her culturally and afforded her the opportunity to experience the ancient and current history of those nations. While at work, some called her a mean old witch, but that witch saved countless lives through her meanness. The one thing that Teresa was adamant about throughout her life was education, for she knew that life is not easily dealt with, but not having an education makes it more difficult. "Your job is to get an education, mine is to put food on the table," was an adage she spoke more than once. Teresa wishes you all Bon Voyage as she travels on her final journey which was sponsored by her parents, Joe and Rita Mallini, and her brother, Joe. Playing valet along the journey were her children, Veronica and Anthony, and her siblings, Angela Mooring, (Joe Mallini, deceased), Rita Mallini Taylor, Richard T. Mallini, and Michael I. Mallini, along with nieces and nephews. Teresa invites her community of friends and neighbors to join the memorial for her, which will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church located at 1621 Boykin Blvd. on Saturday, May 18, 2013, with visitation held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Mass. The celebration of Teresa's life with a meal included will immediately follow in the Parish Hall.
