Teresa Kay Dewyngaert

Teresa Kay Dewyngaert (Terri), aged 69, passed away on August 9, 2025, in Saint Augustine, FL. Born on December 3, 1955, Terri AKA "Cookie" was widely admired for her friendly, sweet, and caring demeanor.

Terri was raised in Forest City, North Carolina where she spent her childhood on the family farm. She later moved to Fort Myers, Florida where she graduated from Fort Myers High School. In 1975, Terri moved to New Jersey where she met and married her husband and raised their two daughters. She dedicated many years of her life to the medical field, serving as a Medical Receptionist at Monmouth Cardiology Associates in New Jersey and later at The Jacksonville Skin Cancer Center in Florida after relocating to the area in 2005. Her blend of professionalism and warmth earned her the admiration of both colleagues and patients alike.

Terri had many hobbies including interior design, reading, gardening, baking, and shopping, but she was most passionate about spending time with her family. During the holidays, her decorating skills made family visits feel magical. Terri was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Timothy Dewyngaert; daughters Kelly Avignone (Nick) and Lauren Dewyngaert (Frank); grandchildren Ryan and Nicholas Avignone, Jr.; sister Judy LeFiles; niece Ginger Balevre; and many cherished friends and members of the extended Dewyngaert, Orr, and Yelton families.

A Celebration of Life for Terri will be held on October 4th at 1pm at the Dewyngaert Residence in Saint Augustine, FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Terri's memory.
