Terrence Henderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 24 to Jul. 29, 2010.
Terrence Henderson: He will be mourned by the many who knew him, worked for or with him, who shared good times, laughed, played, discour-sed, and were inspired by him. He left us on July 19, 2010 at 77, from his seasonal home in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Terry was born in Michigan. He was a star athlete in high school and was recruited to Michigan State on a football scholarship. Following his studies there he began a career in the furniture business. In the early years working in the industry he traveled extensively, and made many acquaintances, friends and colleagues. With his wife Marilyn, and children (Robb, Shaunna, and Candace) he moved frequently, but spent the children's school years in Wheaton, Illinois, and flourished there as the executive vice president of Kroehler Furniture. Following his early retirement, he entered a new phase of his life: the development of a family business, Viewpoint Leather Furniture (now USA Premium Leather Furniture). As his business prospered, he allowed himself the satisfaction of a hobby: building, furnishing, and selling luxury homes in Utah near or on the ski slopes, and in California in the desert communities of Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert. Quietly, and without the expectation or desire for recognition of his good work, Terry had been generous, responsible for the building and/or supporting development of several churches, synagogues, Christian causes, educational and medical institutions, programs for children, and recovery centers. He has brought forth from many who worked with him the best of their skills, helped them find a path to success and assisted them in building their businesses. He was a man who gave and looked not for a return. He will be missed, and the world is a better place for his time in it. His neighbor and friend Royal Taxman of Rancho Mirage said: "Terry was a gentleman. He exuded a feeling of openness and respectfully communicated with all others regardless of their background and community status. He never had a hidden agenda, but rather was a true, accepting friend." He leaves his children: son Robb Henderson, daughters Shaunna Hood and Candace Garvey, his thirteen grandchildren, and his late-in-life wife, Ruth, a legacy of which to be proud and to emulate.

Our staff would like to send our deepest sympathy to the entire Henderson family. Terry's support of our business allowed thousands of people to have the opportunity to change their lives. His quiet generous spirit always left us in awe. We all hope to make a difference in someone's life; Terry made a difference in more than can be counted.

Our Very Best Regards,

The Staff at Leather Plus

Candance I am so sorry about your father - he was quiet a guy. I
remember his 'God Grant Me" always in his room. Think he lived his
life that way. We met in Mission Ranch years ago and always admired
him. Thinking of you and your family and will miss Terry. Mike Adams
