TERRY CARPENTER Obituary

Published by Philadelphia Inquirer/Philadelphia Daily News on Jul. 13, 2018.
CARPENTER
TERRY B.
Passed away on June 12, 2018. Born January 15, 1942 in Athens Ohio. Terry grew up in southern Ohio and later Bloomington Indiana before returning to Ohio and earning a degree at Kent State University. He joined the Peace Corp in 1965 and spent two years in East Africa - an experience he relished throughout his life. Upon return he earned his MBA and entered the world of finance - at Union Commerce Bank in Ohio followed by Girard and Mellon Banks in Pennsylvania and eventually Invest Financial in New York. He loved cars of all types, skiing, animals and the circus. He was the son of Ethel Louise Carpenter of Vermont and is survived by several cousins, many friends and his dearest friend Kathy. There will be a private burial in Vermont. Terry would be pleased if you would think of him and smile and perform a quiet act of kindness for someone in need.

Terry and I were classmates at university high school in Kent and I remember seeing him while I was home from college in California for the summer, and he had returned from his Peace Corp stint in Africa. He had brought many momentous and had lots stories to tell; all very interesting. I was attempting to contact him regarding a high school reunion when I discovered his passing. Terry was a quality guy and I cherish the times we shared in Kent.

Terry was a great guy - so intelligent - so pleasant - very VERY funny. Terry and Kathy were always so kind to include me in many of their adventures - or just dining out together. Being with them - just hanging out - was a real pleasure. I lost touch with both of them for awhile when I moved to Lancaster - and then caring for my Mom - but I have so many wonderful memories of how both of them made me feel so welcome - loved their stories - loved laughing with them. I am trying to do something kind every day in his memory. Rest in Peace Terry.
