Terry Carter

Mr. Rodney Terry Carter, age 62, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022 at his home. Terry was born July 7, 1960 in Lexington, NC to Billy David Carter and Elsie Virginia Terry Carter. Terry retired from Candle Corp. and was of the Baptist faith where he was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and outdoorsman in general, loved riding horses and sitting by the campfire.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Randy Carter and his wife Mary and Larry Carter and his wife Maxine; niece, Marcetta Gregory and brother-in-law, Bobby Alton Poplin, Jr.

Survivors include: his wife of 22 years, Malynda Poplin Carter of the home; daughters, Rachel Cheek and her boyfriend Ivan Roark of Ronda and Hannah Royal and her husband Chris of Ronda; grandchildren, Cheyenne Royal, James Royal, Arzetta Royal and Newton Roark;  brother, Lanny Carter and his wife Debbie of Elkin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Myrtle and Bobby Poplin of Ronda; special nephew, Wayne Carter and his wife Billye and their daughters, Samantha and Alexa all of Elkin; brothers-in-law, Wesley Poplin and his wife Annette of Ronda and Chris Poplin and his wife Dee Dee of East Bend; special family friend, Mama Sue Royal and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Adam Darnell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice, Wayne Carter and his family and Terry’s daughters, Rachel and Hannah for their loving care.
