Terry Crosby Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 30, 2025.
Ms. Terry Mereece Crosby, also known as "Imani", age 68, was born to the late Frank Crosby and the late Alma Smalls Crosby on September 30th 1954 in Charleston, South Carolina. She died peacefully on Saturday December 17th 2022 at a Hospice Facility in Hollywood, Florida.

Terry was raised and educated in Charleston, South Carolina.

In 1972, she graduated from North East Highschool in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Terry enrolled in Eckerd College and applied for a job with Channel 10 WTSP-TV.

She also worked for the now retired Senator James T Hargrett.

After giving birth, Terry decided to relocate her family up North, where she was accepted as a transfer student into the prestigious Howard University.

In 1978, she proudly earned a Bachelors Of Arts degree in the School Of Communications.

In pursuit of a dream and with a passion for journalism, Terry began her broadcasting career at the Voice Of America in Washington, DC. Initially, she had wanted to pursue a career in acting, becoming an official member of the Screen Actors Guild.

Gratefully, she would land a small role as an extra on the hit 90's tv show Homicide: Life On The Beat and in the Oprah Winfrey movie production of Beloved.

Nevertheless, the newsroom is where she thrived on the media and daily reports.

Terry loved to travel and even spent time working in Germany.

"Imani" enjoyed the theatre and had a deep admiration for the Shakespearean Actor.

Terry was a dedicated member to the Unity Church.

She was honored to be apart of both the North East High School and Howard University Alumni.

Terry was a good neighbor and friend to those in her community.

Although born in the South, the District Of Columbia had her "Heart".

She was a life long resident of South East Washington and called it her "Home".

Terry Mereece Crosby is survived by one daughter and three sisters:

Kenya Nairobi Jones and Toni Crosby, Andrea Crosby, Marie Crosby.
