Terry Hansen Obituary
Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 23, 2025.
Terry Charles Hansen was born in Tyler, Minnesota, to Eugene and Winnie Hansen. He passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering faith.
At the age of three, Terry's family moved to Salem, Oregon, where he spent cherished time with his grandparents, Carl and Johanna Rasmussen-Hansen. His bond with them was deeply formative and filled with warmth. He also treasured visits to Solvang, California, where he connected with his great-grandparents Walt and Virginia Rasmussen and extended family, creating lifelong memories.
Terry was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and committed his life to Christ at age 12. A voracious reader, he studied the Bible thoroughly before making his personal commitment to faith.
As a young boy, Terry moved with his family to Southern California, later attending Van Nuys High School where he lettered in football and baseball. He was also part of a singing group that performed at various venues, including Los Angeles Police Department graduations. His love for music was infectious-road trips with Terry were always filled with joyful singing.
After high school Terry served in the U.S. National Guard, specializing in chemical operations and earning expert rifleman status. He also signed a professional baseball contract with the San Francisco Giants. Initially an infielder, his powerful arm soon earned him a place on the pitcher's mound.
It was during this exciting time that Terry met the love of his life, Marilyn. From the moment he saw her, he was smitten. They married in 1972, and as they began their family, Terry chose to lay down his bat and glove to focus on building a business career. He brought the same passion to the corporate world that he had shown on the ballfield.
He pursued computer programming, launching a successful software business that partnered with IBM and served industries ranging from oil to agriculture. His career evolved when he joined ACX, a major agricultural export company, where he transitioned from IT to global sales. Terry traveled to over 46 countries, eventually becoming President of the company, now known as Aldahra. He was a respected leader and speaker in the global agricultural community, admired for his integrity and expertise.
Terry was a natural teacher and a devoted father. He instilled strength, independence, and compassion in his daughters, teaching them to be resilient, gracious, and faithful. His lessons extended beyond the home, touching the lives of many.
Terry adored the women in his life. Every Valentine's Day, he sent flowers to his daughters and granddaughters, a tradition that spoke volumes of his love. When thanked for his thoughtful gestures, he would simply say, "I learned it in daddy school." And if Jeopardy was on, don't even think about challenging him-he could answer nearly every question with ease.
Terry's joy came from giving-often quietly and generously, even when resources were limited. He leaves behind countless friends and co-workers who were blessed by his kindness and wisdom.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Marilyn; daughters Wendy Orme (Brian), Jenny Hansen, and Christie Twitchell (Kameron); grandchildren Regan Dahlk (Michael), Balin, Stella, and Atticus; great-granddaughter Lillian Dahlk; and brothers Michael and Loren Hansen.
Though his absence leaves a profound void, Terry is now whole and rejoicing in the eternal home prepared for him by his Lord. His life was a testament to faith, family, and service, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
