Terry Landry Obituary

Published by The New Orleans Advocate from Apr. 8 to Apr. 9, 2017.
Terry Paul Landry (Pappy), age 63, of Harvey, Louisiana passed away on April 03, 2017. He was born on December 15, 1953 in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He graduated from East Jefferson High School (class of 71) and attending Delgado. Terry was a member of Delta Alpha Kappa fraternity, and had recently reconnected with some of his brothers. Terry worked at T.L. James Construction, where he surveyed the new runways at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. He then worked in the oil business for Sooner Pipe and Supply as a warehouse manager. When the oil field supply business declined, he decided to go back to his roots, Bud's Broiler, where he had worked from the age of 14 and most of his high school years. He decided to open his own business as a Franchise owner of two Bud's Broilers on the West Bank of Jefferson Parish, for over 25 years, where his two sons also worked from an early age to adulthood. He was an honorary member of the Westside Street Rod Association and member of the Louisiana Restaurant Association. Terry often volunteered preparing food for various events. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an awesome father and grandfather, fun, humorous, caring and most of all loving. He treated everyone in his life as his own, second father, Pappy and friend to all that knew him. Terry will be missed by many. Terry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Gonzales Landry; sons, Jacob Paul Landry and Justin James Landry; three grandchildren, Landon Paul Landry, Kailey Elizabeth Landry and Drake James Landry; sisters, Ramona Kaul (Calvin) and Robin Best; and step-father, Jerry Watts (Lydia). Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and a host of friends. Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Landry Watts and his father, Jules Louis Landry, Jr. A Memorial Service will be held at Faithful Word Assembly, 1401 Joe Yenni Blvd., Kenner, La. 70065 on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 1:00 pm, with reflections starting a 12:00 noon. Arrangements by L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity, or any Autism Research Foundation. "Terry and I go back mostly from beings friends at John Quincy Adams Junior High School. My most fond memory of him was how he always seemed to be joyful everyday and that put everyone around him in a great mood. He was truly a wonderful person which I know he will be sadly missed by everyone. I offer my condolences to all of his family! Just the thought of hearing his name and seeing his picture gives me happiness, although I am sadden by his passing now. RIP my friend and I hope to see you in another world. Michel "Mike" Lavin

My heart aches hearing of your passing. Mr. Terry has been like an uncle to me. Growing up as child we would run next door to buds broiler and terry would be right there with open arms (my father is next door at Allstate on Lapalco). Mr terry knew that my favorite thing was the cherry pies. So he made sure to have an extra one just for me. He made me feel special as a kid. When buds broiler closed/moved we missed you so much. We are going to miss you even more Mr. Terry. Rest In Peace. Our condolences to the family of one of the most gentle spirits we've ever known ~ Paul Carter and family.
