Deepest sympathy to Terry's family and friends. He was assistant manager of Crafton Pool when I was a lifeguard in the late 60's. And then, of course, our swim team coach. He coached us all very well and kept things light at work (not that lifeguarding was that much "work"!)- man we had a lot of fun! He is one of those reminders, to me, of the good things from what seems to be another time.

When Terry left he took a little bit of Rosedale from all of us. He will be missed but the good memories will stay. His caring, people skills and leadership were second to none. Great family man and he and Holly always set a high bar for being grandparents. He was a good friend and a class act. We will miss him.

Dear Holly, we were very surprised at Terry's passing. We remember you from the early days at Rosedale when you were on your daily walk and stopped and visited when we lived on 52nd Drive (I think you were first renters). These are sad times now, but your strength in Christ and closeness of family will help you mend the hole in your heart. Let me share with you a prayer, Lord Jesus, come into my heart, I repent of my sins, I will make you my Lord and Savior, Amen.

Holly and Family, So sorry for your loss. I was a teacher in Montour, and a friend of Maureen's. Holly, when you and Terry found each other it was such a "Fairy Tale" scenario. It was so obvious that you two were soul mates and meant for each other. My deepest sympathies to you, Holly, his children and grandchildren.

Condolences to Hollis and family on the passing of Terry. Bill and I were shocked to read the obituary in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette online. We lived a few houses down from Hollis and Terry when we lived in Crafton. Last year,we met them in Bradenton at Home Depot near were we live. We had just relocated to Sarasota, FL and they lived very near us. What a wonderful conversation we had catching up on our lives in Crafton. Terry was a happy, carefree man and loved golf. You will be sadly missed. God be with the family.

I'm so saddened to hear of this. My family spent nearly every summer afternoon at Crafton Pool for years, and many evenings at swim meets. Terry coached my children--Sherry, Kathy, and Bobby Smith--as '70s Crocodiles. We all admired him.
Deepest sympathy to his family and to his many close friends and former students.
Prayers.

I had Mr. O'Shea for English and Psychology at Montour High School. He was one of my favorite teachers--even though he had one foot firmly out the door to retirement. I'll never forget his wit (he always had great comebacks for kids who tried getting smart with him) or how he would tell us to "watch this movie while I practice my golf swing." I'll be thinking about his family and friends during this difficult time.

January 6, 2016

To an old old friend and pal from East Carnegie.

We had a lot of fun together as kids!

My thoughts and prayers are with your family today.

Mr. O' Shea was my swim coach when I was on the Montour Marlins. I remember he would give me a Swedish fish before each race and tell me it was important to eat the fish tail first so that it would swim with me and help me swim faster, and warned me that if I ate it head first, it would swim against me and slow me down. My 6 year old self wholeheartedly believed this and it helped me to not be nervous during races and made swimming fun. He started a lifelong love of swimming which I have to this day. Mr. O'Shea was also one of my high school English teachers and he was a great one at that. I was sad to hear of his passing and hope that his family will find comfort in the many lives that he touched. He truly made this world a better place.

Mr. O' Shea was my 9th grade teacher and we had a falling out and I ended up dropping his English class but later as a senior I took an experimental race relations class as my history requirement and had Mr. o'shea...we had a great time together and I think we both learned from our experiences and learned to appreciate each other's differences of opinion. I had the utmost respect for him and wrote him letters from VietNam during the war. RIP Mr. O'Shea...you were a true educater!

January 6, 2016

To this day I use what Mr. O'Shea taught me some 37 years ago. Those same lessons I share with many, many others. Several in my family had him as a swim coach. He was an incredible man.He was just too good for this world. The Minahan family would like to extend their deepest condolences.I'm sure we can all agree that we were blessed to have been around him.

Mr. O'Shea was one of my favorite teacher's. And to top it off he was a very good looking teacher. After coming from Catholic school and seeing nuns all day this was a plus. It seems like he lived a happy full life and this picture of him is how I remember him, just older. RIP Mr. O'Shea. I am so glad he got that hole in one.

January 6, 2016

Mr. O'Shea was always one of my favorite(and best) teachers. He always used to say, "go at it with the enthusiasm and gusto of a hound dog", that I still use today. Always kind, with wit that I very much appreciated. I can't say how sorry I am to read of his passing. Sleep well.

Mark Riesmeyer

January 6, 2016

My sympathies go out to his family. I was on the Carlynton High School swim team in the early to mid 70's, and had to swim against Montour. They beat us every time, but the thing that struck me was how much fun they had as a team. Singing "Yellow Submarine" by the Beatles was one of their highlights. It's something that I try to incorporate into the swim practices I run. May he rest in peace.Mark Riesmeyer
