Terry Parker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 26, 2024.
Terry Raymond Parker, age 80, of Warrensburg, IL, passed away on November 21, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. Terry was born on October 31, 1944, in Peoria, IL, to Charles Raymond Parker and Christina "Peggy" Margaret Parker (Fleming). Upon graduating Kemper Military Academy, Terry dedicated four years to serving in the Air Force, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism. Following his military service, he embarked on a noteworthy career at Caterpillar Inc., where he retired after 40 years in 2003, continuing to work as a contract employee for an additional decade. Terry took great pride in continuing family traditions, representing the third generation to work for the company, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. His daughter, Tracey, continues that legacy as the fourth generation.

Terry was a graduate of Kemper Military Academy in Boonville, MO, and furthered his education by attending Richland Community College, Solano Community College, and Eastern Illinois University.

Terry was very proud to be a member of the Warrensburg Lions Club; Decatur Aero Commanders RC Club and the American Legion Post 105.

Terry was affectionately known to his family as "Gus," a nickname that reflected his warm personality and great sense of humor. Terry cherished nothing more than spending time with his family. He found joy in activities like fishing, boating, attending sporting events, and flying his RC airplanes.

Terry is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Christine Parker; his brother, William Edmund Parker (Gloria), and his niece, Christina Nicole (Nikki) Parker; his brother in law Steven Ancil Livesey (Len); and his children, Charles Raymond Parker II (Jean), Kristen Nicole Clark (Sean), and Tracey Michelle Parker. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren-Gavin, Ethan, Adrienne, Logan, Jackson, Andrew, Evan, Carsten, and Kipten-and a great-grandfather to Kayce. Terry was preceded in death by his son, Edward, and his parents, Charles Raymond Parker and Christina "Peggy" Margaret Parker (Fleming).

Per Terry's request, a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Warrensburg Lions Club in his memory, honoring his spirit of community service and support. Terry's legacy of dedication, both in his professional life and personal pursuits, will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all who knew him.

I worked for Terry for several years at CAT in the Systems and Controls area. His knowledge of the systems was impressive and invaluable to the success of the MAMM installation. My sincerest condolences to his wife, Linda, and family.
