Terry Vaughn Burnett was born April 22, 1964 in Gary, Indiana to the union of Henry Tyson and Dorothy Mae Vaughn-Burnett. On August 27, 2024, Terry took his last breath on earth, but his first breath on his journey to heaven. Terry was baptized on April 13, 1975 at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, where he traveled as the youngest actor with the United Women Folk Singers.Terry was passionate about baseball, and the bass guitar. He was a standout pitcher throughout his little league, high school and college career. Terry was a scholar-athlete, securing both academic and athletic scholarships to Earlham College and Harvard University. He graduated in 1987 from Tennessee State University and Meharry Medical College with a BS degree in Medical Technology. Shortly after graduating, he earned the ASCP Board of Certification. Before his transition, Terry was working as a Microbiologist at Veterans Health Administration in Memphis, Tennessee.He is preceded in death by his parents; Dorothy Mae Vaughn-Burnett and Henry Tyson; and, brother Albert Campbell.Terry is survived by his wife, Selena Marshall, his son Versilis (Shelby) Tyson, granddaughter NylaRose, sister Dorothy Mae (Auther) Robinson, brothers Tom Burnett, William (Edith) Ransom, Mark (Charmaine) Tyson, Michael (Taneshia) Kinzie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Wake Friday September 6,2024 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Funeral 11:00 a.m. at Father's Heart Church 3673 Broadway Gary,In. Interment Fern Oak Cemetery Griffith,In. Services Entrusted To Powell-Coleman Funeral Home.
