DOUR
Robert J., 93, of Glen Rock, NJ passed away at home on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he resided in Fair Lawn for many years before moving to Glen Rock ten years ago. A faithful and active parishioner of St. Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock, he served as a lector, altar server and was a member and past president of the Association of Mature Parishioners (AMPS). An avid reader, Bob enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles and spending time with family especially his grandchildren. He was a loyal NY Mets fan.
Prior to retiring, he was employed as a chartering specialist with P&O Shipping in New York City for 26 years.
Beloved husband of the late Catherine "Kate" (Burke) Dour. Loving and devoted father of Robert Dour, Jr. and wife Linda, Michael Dour and wife Krysia, Christopher Dour and wife Cynthia and Daniel Dour and wife Ellen. Dear brother of Paul Dour. Cherished grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of four.
The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, 201-797-3500. A Funeral Mass is planned for Wednesday, October 19, 2016, 10 AM at St. Catharine R.C. Church, 905 South Maple Avenue, Glen Rock, NJ 07452. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Robert to St. Catharine R.C. Church would be appreciated. I have fond memories of Uncle Bob's sense of humor as well as softball games at family picnics and the family cottage in Monroe, NY. We also had family get togethers in his home; often with 20 plus adults and children!
