I was driving back from the East coast this past July and I received an email from Tex. We hadn't spoken in decades, but soon we had caught up, shared a few laughs on the phone and promised to stay in touch. I am deeply saddened by your loss - indeed everyone's loss. Please accept my deepest condolences.

I met Tex several years ago at an NTTC convention, and we enjoyed visiting with each other over the years. He was always a hoot; enthusiastic and fun. He will be missed by his friends in the trucking industry.

My deepest sympathies to all the Pitfield family. I met Tex in Montreal where I was his tailor and very quickly his friend. His charisma made Tex a very special man, he was able to deal with people on so many levels. He will be missed by so many people. I will raise a glass for him this evening.

Jennifer,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I worked with Tex for several years while at RaceTrac petroleum. Tex is one of the smartest and also one of the most fun people I have met in the S&D industry. I feel lucky to have known him and wanted you to know I was thinking about you.

I am an old, old friend of Tex's from our working days, and social days...at ScotiaMcLeod, Westmount as neighbors... (Early 1980's)
I was so happy to reconnect with him a few years ago, to see he was so happy with you Jen, and a lovely son... We spoke on Facebook a couple of weeks ago....His love, humour and wisecracking shall be remembered !
This is shocking, and heartbreaking news...
My thoughts, prayers and love go out to all of you ....
Unbelievable and hard to fathom.

To Jen and Jack, All our prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family.
I was shocked to hear of Tex's passing. The last thing we talked about was Tex getting his dads old truck back from the body shop. He always had a real outlook on things. If there is anything I can do to help you and Jack please don't hesitate to ask.
Tex will be greatly missed by all

To Jennifer & Jack,
I was so sad to hear of Tony's sudden passing. I am an old friend from Vancouver and we had reconnected this year on Facebook. The pain of having a loved one yanked out of your life is crushing....my thoughts are of you during this time. He was a great guy but you already know that. Tony will be missed.

Jen and Jack, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Tex from days in our early 20's. He was always so full of comments and often humorous insights on everything! Tex is one of those people who will always be remembered as larger than life...and such a presence. As with many of the people who have sent messages, he recently reached out to me on Facebook and I so enjoyed catching up and hearing about life in Atlanta. Jen, I can't imagine what you are going through. I send my deepest sympathies and prayers.

Jennifer and Jack,
Words cannot come close to the shock and sadness that is in all of our hearts. We all met in Georgia in 1996. Had so many fun and crazy times. You all have always been on my mind and in my heart. Welcoming us in all of your stunning homes, laughing and enjoying our time together. The other night Devon needed no reminding of who Tex was! She has vivid memories of Tex swinging her on his huge forearm and throwing her up into the air. You were both so supportive and amazing with Devon. We left Georgia but you were always there. You all came to Boston for Colin's 50'th. A wonderful reuinion for old friends. Tex was Tex what can I say? I smile at the thought of him. He always had something interesting to contribute to a conversation!! And he adored his lovely Meow and worshipped his son Jack. An amazing Dad!!
Jennifer and Jack Please know I love you both.
Sincerely
Vanessa Bonner-Sutherland

Last saw Tex over 30 years ago, but thought about him and wondered where he'd gotten to. Last year he popped up out of the blue, and it was a joy to hear about Jennifer and Jack, and their life in Georgia. It was great to hear how happy, how content he was. I looked forward Tex's facebook postings and links because he always had something interesting to say, and such insights on our uncertain world. Jennifer, I cannot even imagine what you are going through, but please accept my deepest sympathy.

Jen, Jack and all the Pitfield family -- I am so very sorry for your loss. Tex was a dear friend from school days who bounded back into my life after a long gap. I can't quite believe such a force of life could have been taken from us so suddenly and so soon.

Jen and Jack. It is hard to believe that so much energy and love of life could end so early. I knew Tex from our NTTC meetings and many early emails and phone calls about everything from the stock market to trucking to where to enjoy the beauty of Canada.

I was devastated when I heard the news about Tex's untimely passing. The last time I saw Tex, his lovely wife Jennifer, and his son Jack was on a business trip to Atlanta in Oct 2007. I stayed at their home and was afforded hospitality befitting that of the King of England. I will never forget that visit. The last time I spoke with Tex was earlier in the summer; little did I know it would be for the last time.
I have fond memories of skiing with Tex at Grouse Mountain in Vancouver and chumming around in our Kerrisdale neighbourhood. I loved dropping by his house because his Mom, Sylvia, made the best chocolate cakes.
He will be sadly missed! My love goes out to Jennifer and Jack and to all of Tex's family and friends.
