Brother, we grew up together in the ten hundred block of East Evans St in Florence across the street from play mama, Miss Rosa Nelson and next door to Miss Goldie and Audrey We were both called Brother and our brothers were both called Jr. We used to shoot marbles over on Devine Street in front of Betty Bowens house and sometimes Betty Murphy would be over there, and Dadie (James Smith). The basketball court was behind Miss Barno´s house and we played half the day in the mud, shooting hoops with Bunny and Edward Dargan and Baby Smith and those guys, you had a running hook shot, that was your specialty. We had Morning News routes in West Florence. Those were the days down on Evans St.
