I know that most of you think of her as "Mom," "Grandmother" and "Great-grandma," but to me Aunt Thail was exactly that: The ideal aunt - so gentle, loving and thoughtful, with a wonderful smile and an unforgettable laugh. I truly loved seeing her smile and laugh, and have memories of her doing exactly that going back to my earliest childhood. She is also inextricably tied to my mom, for they loved each other so. As Carolyn and I noted together the other night, they are the perfect example of what loving sisters are supposed to be. Having lost both of them now in the span of a single year, I can't help but feel sad, and grieve for and with all of you, my wonderful cousins. She loved loved loved her family! Your remarks and songs at the funeral were perfect, too, just the right balance of tears and memories. Love to you all.

Dear Cousins,

Reesa and I send our love and sympathy, and wish we were able to attend the services and give you all a warm hug and kiss. That is how people here share their sorrow. We loved our visits with Aunt Thail, and feel a closeness to all of you. It is hard to think about, that we have all been orphaned with the loss of our parents, but the gospel truth is, we are eternal, and life does go on, both here and there!

My heart is full of love and sadness for my cousins and Uncle Quentin. I feel love knowing that the Ottley Sisters are together in a better place. Aunt Thail was special to everyone who knew her. We all loved her spirit!

Our sympathy is extended to all of the Ross and Thail Dastrup posterity who grieve the loss of a sweet woman, Thail. I have always appreciated the kind and gentle demeanor of my aunt Thail. Our hope is that your sadness may be soothed by the Spirit of the Comforter during this time of parting. Love from the Ottley's!

To the wonderful Dastrup children I taught at Mountain View High School, my sympathies to you all. I know that you will see her again in a joyous reunion.
