In memory of
Lorrie Finley (Trent)
September 10, 2008
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I rode the school bus with Thayer and his brother, Thad, for many years. They lived with their grandparents, the Jantz, on my block. I was shocked to hear of the accident and pray God will hold you tight during this time.

Dear Jill, I was so sad to hear of Thayer's passing. Being an LCA classmate, I learned Thayer was a kind person, easy to be friends with, without pretense. I am so sorry for your loss--this world is not our home. May the Lord fill you with His peace, comfort, and hope. You and your boys will be in my prayers.

Jill, Daniel & Lucas,
I thought the memorial was so special. It was very kind of Andrew to come and sing. I was glad I was able to help in a small way (I'm glad I had mountain pictures for the songs). I'm praying for you, Daniel and Lucas. I’m really going to miss seeing Daniel and Lucas come into the sound booth on Sundays. It was a blessing to witness the love between Thayer and the boys.

Jill,
I am so saddened to hear of Thayer's passing. May God hold you and the boys tight during this very difficult time. I only had the opportunity to briefly meet Thayer, but knowing you and the boys, I am sure he was a great husband and father. He will live on through your two wonderful boys. Please know your friends from Gordon-Barbour are keeping you, Daniel, and Lucas in our thoughts and prayers.

Jill, My thoughts of Thayer lead me to the many hours we worked together on the sound system at GCC in Charlottesville. What a knowledgeable person. The laughs we shared after working so long, doing so much and wondering if it was even going to work right! The lunches we shared, the prayers together and just talking about family in general and getting to know him on a personal level was an awesome experience. He was a great friend, awesome brother in Christ and I count it a privilege to have known him. It is hard to understand why God called him home so soon but I look forward to the day when I will see my "brother" again. My prayers are with you, Daniel and Lucas at this time. Unfortunately I am away on business and will not be able to attend the service today. Thank you for your sacrafice of sharing Thayer with us at Grace when we needed him. We love you and will be praying for you and the boys.

Dear Mrs. Botham,
It was my privilege to have taught Thayer Bible in the ninth grade at LCA . Thayer was a fine young Christian, a good student, and very respectful of all of his teachers.
It was also our good lot to attend church with Thayer's grandparents for many years and Dr. Jantz would keep me abreast on how their grandsons were doing. Elmer and Marie were so proud of Thayer and Thad.
I pray that you, Daniel and Lucas will continually experience God's comfort and peace as only He can administer now that Thayer is in His loving presence. Romans 8:35-39
Sincerely in Christ,

Jill,
Though many of us will never know the depth of sorrow you face, may each kind word, hug of a friend, favorite photos, memories shared, help offered, and meals provided point you and the boys to the promises of God to be your Comforter. Cling to Him! We love you, Jill, and cherish the memories of Thayer. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

Truly only God can give a peace that passes understanding during a time like this. I have experienced it for myself, and I know it is true. I was a close friend of Ramey Reeves who passed a little over a month ago. The tears will keep coming . . . but Praise God we have hope beyond the grave! God's blessings to you all and my prayers are with you. Please visit www.prayforramey.com to see how others have dealt with their grief and found goodness in God's plans.

Jill, Daniel and Lucas: The hearts of all at Grace Community Church are with you all. Many were weeping yesterday at church. When we had Emily's wedding I thought of Thayer and others who had creatively designed and built our stage. He was of course instrumental in the sound system at GCC, which works great! It was great to see you all only a few weeks ago...Thayer seemed really happy to me. We are confident he is "absent from the body, present with the Lord". Our hearts and prayers are with you. Anna is moving into Virginia Tech on Wednesday or you would see us there at the service.
