A great lady. When we moved to Norfolk, VA in 1973 my mom was introduced to wonderful people that my Uncle Rags knew and they all hung around each other a lot! My mom & Thelma were very close. She will definitely be missed. Now she is in heaven w her husband, my mom & Ham and lots of their friends.

How she always welcomed me and included me even though I had not known her very long

I will always remember how welcoming Mrs. Davenport was to me. David and I met in college and were roommates for a period of time. My family was military and not in the same area for some of my time in Norfolk and she always made me feel part of the family. I will always remember with fondness the year I spent Thanksgiving with the Davenport family.
Rest in peace.

My heart has a special place for Mrs. Davenport. So thankful she was one of the "group" moms as we navigated our way to adult life. May her memory be blessed!

I have known Thelma or, to me, Aunt Thelma, all my life (I´m in my 40s now). My favorite memory and one we laughed about to present was when I was 4 or so and would walk across the street to her house. I would knock on the door, asking for a cookie. I would then say "I have to go home now". She was loved and will be greatly missed.
