SALTVILLE – Mrs. Thelma Early Haynes, age 100, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2006, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and neighbor. She was a member of the Saltville Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by her husband, W.R. Haynes Sr.; son, James "Red" Haynes; grandson, Larry Haynes Jr.; and daughter in-law, Aileen Haynes.
Survivors: five sons, Malcolm Haynes and wife Shirley of Saltville, Kenneth Haynes of Cookeville, Tenn., Ralph Haynes Jr. and wife Dorothy of Cleveland, Tenn., Carl Haynes and wife Patsy of Saltville and Larry Haynes and wife Martha of Johnson City; two daughters, Linda Henderson of Saltville and Barbara Borders and husband Jack of Cleveland, Tenn.; 32 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Haynes will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dale Strange officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabeth Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday just prior to the funeral service.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home of Saltville is serving the Haynes family.
